I think it just comments on the pure shallowness of the banners and slogans and adherence to faith only in words and action without a deeper level of reason or thinking, something that many people evidently lack (look up the studies if you dont believe me), but ironically, this capacity to reason has very longingly been thought to be an ability endowed by god, yet so many lack the capacity to use it yet claim their allegiance to him.
