Hi Sam Great video on one of my favourite venues. I am looking to replace my Signature 400 pole with a 13 or 14.5 metre pole, I currently have around a dozen powerlite top kits so I require a maver pole they will fit? Any suggestions please in the £1100 bracket, cheers Nigel 🍻

Hi mate, thanks for watching. The MV-R R2 pole would be a brilliant upgrade if you can stretch your budget slightly, ive seen it around £1499 online, plus all your topkits will fit. In this video I'm using the MV-R R3 which is the next level up from it.

landed a 21 llb 8 oz common from Cobhouse last week. Size 18 hook to 0.14 hooklength. Double red Maggot. 34 minutes to net. 4 Carp and 1 Bream for 72llb 4 oz. Difficult day for many. Quite a few blanked. No silverfish caught at all. Never known that happen before. Wyatt pool must be full of milt.

Tried your method, couldn't believe how well it worked. Fished Larford yesterday was bagging some big carp (8-12lb) down the edge later on. Taking around 5 minutes each to land, remembered seeing you video, tried it and was landing them in seconds 😮👍. You have to be on it with your netting though, as you said you only get one chance, I lost a couple when they shot off after missing them with the net and couldn't add sections fast enough 😂. I think this could make a big difference in the last hour of a match when catching down the edge. Thanks for the advice 👍👍

Wouldn’t use 24 elastic unless i was fishing for a whale, even 19 is abit too strong sometimes, 17 maybe would of been alright tho

Sam. I know its skilful, but where is the fun part of fishing gone? I love the run of a carp, not knocking you at all as I expect you're probebly a match angler. But when you watch Rob Wootton he says he takes is time landing every carp he hooks? Anyway great video and something to learn.
@sambrownfishing1106
@sambrownfishing1106 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, depends how you look at it, in a match it makes all the difference but you wouldn't need to do this pleasure fishing. For me the longer you have that carp hooked the more adrenaline and probably stress it's under, the quicker it's in the net the better for the fish overall and you can admire your catch.

If a specimen Carp angler (Bivy Bunny) hooks the same fish 90 metres away and drags it in.... It's a tiddler to them!!! In a match against the best of the best, I'd happily catch 20 of their tiddlers and haul them in.... My guess is Sam Brown regrets making this upload.

I started using the 14-17 dual core on my margin and short pole line through the summer and it was totally faultless. Had fish from less than a pound up to 15lb using it. Very forgiving but powers up brilliantly.

Great to hear! I love the stuff and like you said it's very forgiving, I went back to Meadowlands last year and had 170lb on that elastic on my 5m line. It was perfect for those big lumps

How do you strip the line from your pole
@sambrownfishing1106
@sambrownfishing1106 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan, it's not line its elastic. You can get top sections for your pole where a slot is made in the side and this allows you to pull elastic out, this makes it tighter so theres less for the fish to pull back on

I didn't give an explanation of why I no longer fish matches. I've caught 4 carp over 20lb and dozens up to 20lb on the pole since that post. My last double figure carp was landed on light tackle whilst silver fish fishing 3 weeks ago . I stopped enjoying matches.

Hi Sam, I watched this yesterday and tried it today. I must say i was a bit wary for the first fish but flipping eck it worked a treat. I fished at about 7m, managed to hook 5 carp to about 10lb and each one was landed before it knew what was happening, not one lost. Certainly added a new technique to my fishing. Thanks.

MetalScope yeah you can really feel the pressure when you have a decent fish on the pole, I’m strictly on rod for the carp now they just fight too hard I know it can be done but it’s too risky

i agree ive been catching doubles on a shamano margin pole only cosst me £55 it has no puller for the eleastic lmao... its a 4 peice talk about dumb asses haha. Going to upgrade soon hopefully so i dont have to fight as much took me 25 mins the other day of rigourous running about the bank trying to back off 6m from the peg to bring the fish close to the net for my brother Its a right ballache

MetalScope haha mate you got me in stitches that was like me when I got snapped I was so scared that the band was going to break that I wasn’t even fighting it in the end literally just heading off in the direction the fish was pulling me!😂 everyone else must of thought I looked a right dweeb, your right to upgrade man it just saves the hassle although tbf at least you landed yours! You can get some fairly hefty elastics if your committed on sticking to the pole, I know guys who bag 20’s on them in the margin I was just put off for life lol bastard fish

Very impressive ,, but no keep-nets or foot / rod support etc in front !! In match conditions, "Three Nets " all needing support bars in front ! ( Bank sticks cannot be pushed into the ground on most fisheries, ground like concrete ! ) I can see problems ! but I will try it .. How do you go on with a twelve pounder in the tail ! and how many pull off ??
