Plugin sounds nothing like the hardware delay it tries to imitate

Loudness referencing? I wonder, depends on where you reference track is coming from, cd or Spotify? Both very different loudness because Spotify is turned down. I like to test this.

Mane, they must've sent you some trashy vocals. For you to use almost 10 plugins just to get his vocals to sound decent is krazy. That autotune does sound like a hot mess... garbage 🗑. I always make sure I get a great vocal take. 1 compressor and 1 eq plugin is all it usually takes. Then add your special effects, reverb and delay if needed. Using 10 plugins per vocal is krazy
@WeissAdvice2 күн бұрын
Yea.. would’ve been nice to smooth out the auto tune w repitch first, iron out some of those glitches. Most of the plugins are there to create a very specific sound - it’s kinda like sound design meets mixing.

Sonible compressor is super clean. Love the balanced, mid, expand options. I see you use waves c6 a lot, how would you compare it to fabfillter pro mb or is there any certain situation where you would use one or the other?

C6 has a very specific sound.. technically a distortion but I like it

This was a masterclass bro. You make it look so simple. Indeed the most fascinating statement is the power of gain staging you mentioned which affects the whole sound and not just a portion of it. Never thought about it that way.

How do you like to use your tape emulator plugin? Do you put it on a track, instrument bus, mix bus, or parallel?
@WeissAdvice10 күн бұрын
I generally use tape emulators in two contexts - sound design, and sweetener. For sweeteners I'm typically placing it on a bus, unless I'm trying to tame down harshness. For sound design, on the individual channel.

8:51 A question: what is that compressor on the kick? It seems to be a "bx_" something presumably from Plugin Alliance? but I don't see anything resembling it on the PA website. Is it something that is not yet available to the general public?

Unless it is the Townhouse and the name is abbreviated? I think that must be it.

@PipEastop12 күн бұрын
Waves, are you listening to all of this? Years ago I bought a ton of waves plugins. Now I don't use them because it looks like I have to keep paying again and again. Bad idea, Waves. I've gone and I'm not coming back UNTIL YOU LET ME USE THE PLUGINS I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR. There are loads of great plugin developers out there with much simpler methods of payment, so I'm with them. Give me ownership of the ones I paid for and I'll consider coming back.
@bro.sweets458312 күн бұрын
are you getting paid for producing vocals production for from that artist?? I don't want anyone to believe this is what a mix engineer do for free
@WeissAdvice10 күн бұрын
Oh, absolutely. I don't itemize but I build the fees directly into my rate, along with alt prints, studio fee, and a whole host of other stuff. Only itemization I do with labels at this point is Atmos and mastering.

I’ve never come across any serious discussion arguing that Revoice Pro even comes close to Melodyne to be honest. I have both the full products and never bothered using Revoice Pro cos it is unusable with the interface an all. It certainly doesn’t sound better, that’s just daft talk.
@WeissAdvice10 күн бұрын
Trying doing it blind. Throw in Waves Tune and Autotune too while you're at it. You might be surprised what you end up preferring.
@cekirdekci3214 күн бұрын
We use melodyne shortcuts. We never go to menu anyways. I mean. … pros use shortcuts. Melodyne is super fast with the shortcuts guys and super detailed work. Yoy can really take whack vocals and take them to the next level. You cant do it with repitch without artifacts.
@WeissAdvice13 күн бұрын
The segment on shortcuts was cut for time. Thank you for your concern.
