The name of the movie should've been called, "Against all odds."

My ancestor, Theophilus Clarke, crossed the Delaware and fought at Trenton and wintered at Valley Forge. Crossing the Delaware saved the war. Remarkable.

Funny how many Americans watch this and don't get that George Washington started his military career as a BRITISH officer. Hence, the British accent (as with General Gates, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and good old Ben Franklin, et al.). This modern Americanization is tiresome and perpetuates a fantasy. That being said, the story is well done - I just wish directors would get their stuff together. That is all.

Nearly 57 minutes of American psychosis and delusion. Start by asking yourselves, if the US was founded on such equality, why did America take until the 13th amendment in 1865 to outlaw slavery, your Jim Crow enforced racial segregation until 1965? Whereas UK Slave Trade Act of 1807 banned slave trading, the Royal Navy West Africa Squadron 1808-1867 quite successful seized 1600 slave ships sailing to the Americas, liberating the slaves. History tells us at least 12 US Presidents were Slave owners, hardly "land of the free". With regards to Russia, why didn't the US, with its super-close ties to the Romanov dynasty, invite Alexander II's grandson Nicholas II and his family to US in 1918? Surely they could have used that highly successful railway line you built. You need to stop your bullshit conspiracy theories lads and face reality, Britain isn't responsible for any of the nonsense you're spurting.

Washington was lucky. Bravery and audacity are one thing, but if mother nature did not play nice and had thrown a storm at his army traversing in rickety boats, the United States might not have existed. We celebrate risky acts that turned out in our favor, but for every risky action, there are countless others that turned out badly and are never heard from again. Remember, history is written by the victors.

We are a nation founded on, and which continues to practice, audacity. We do the unthinkable because no one else is willing to try. Many failures occur from such a methodology, but the successes ring throughout history and inspire to try again.
