My Great Dane is half blind and deaf, so I’m definitely going to implement this technique to try and help training. Especially because his focus is terrible so I’m hoping this will help! Thank you!

Beautiful girl. I talk to my deaf girl and encourage my kids to do the same. I tell them it's really for me, not the dog. It helps me feel what I'm doing, and she senses that feeling more as she's deaf.

Hello there! I own a deaf American Staffordshire puppy that is currently 4 months old. I want to buy a vibration collar for her to start training her to recall, but while i saw too many reviews out there i cannot decide which one to get. Do you have any recommendations? Money is not an issue, i want to get her the best choice possible. Thank you in advance!

My deaf Dane ‘listened’ better than any dog I’ve had, I figured it was because she had to pay attention more with her eyes, and also she wasn’t distracted by random sounds around us. I miss that dog something fierce.

I adopted a 10 year old deaf dog a month ago from a rescue. I have no way of knowing if she went deaf with age or has always been deaf. Is it likely she'll respond to training at this point in her life?

I had a Chessie 12.5 years from when he was 6 weeks old. till he went to the Rainbow Bridge. I had him no leash trained in just over a year, in the city and our town with streets and lots of distractions. Very smart dogs Would not go into the street... He was an alpha male, I would joke with friends, I'm 1, he's 2 and everybody else is 3. but it really was not a joke. If you have the time to spend with a Chessie and do some training you will be well rewarded. I appreciate this gentleman's video but He is a 3, he just don't know it yet. One more observation from my years with DJ, They have a memory that is nothing short of incredible, my family with our Dogs would go camping once or twice a year. 2 years since we went to this camp site and as soon as I turned on a road 2 miles from the place, he knew where we were, he remembered amazing.

Hi Rudy, I believe the word you meant to use in your critique was "you're." It's a contraction for the words, you are. As in, you are no good. Your, the word you used, means something that belongs to you. For example, your car, your house or your silly comment about something you clearly know nothing about,, like dog training. In any case, I hope you enjoy your evening..

I have a deaf and partially blind double dapple dachshund, with the partially being one microphthalmic eye. He is three and in all this time I had never figure why he has such a fascination with my feet. He needs to be touching at least one foot pretty much most of the time, day and night. Now I know why. Thanks

Who cares if the leash is tight?!?! You are not carrying a HORSE!!! Its a small dog!!! The dog has to explore together with his owner, wtf are u pulling the leash that hard?!?! Do you imagine how difficult to them is breathing?! And you choke him?!?! I highly hope that dog isnt yours.

The dog clearly doesn't understand the sit command but tries to please the handler than she gets a choke and no... whats the point... its old fashioned, you have to understand dogbehavior before you train :/

Not acceptable in many dog schools in Europe... if you have to use a choak collar to teach sit... well, that is a baaad trainer. With this knowledge you would not pass the exam for the K9 instructor here - like Cezar did not in Germany...

You do realise that french bulldogs have smaller airways and throats and by using a choke chain you run the risk of crushing their wind pipe what a cruel video

Your commands were unclear to him. This Chessie thought that the time to "sit" was only after you said "sit, no sit", and then gave a leash correction. Dogs should only be asked to "sit" one time. If they do not obey, they should be put into the position. Continuous begging and saying certain words will only lead to a dog waiting to hear "sit" three times before he thinks he should.
@genelonsway
@genelonsway 10 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but the only thing that is unclear is your perception of what you saw in the video. Repeatedly, the sit command was given, then the correction was made, then the word "no" was used to reinforce the correction and finally the word sit was used again to remind the dog what he needed to do to resolve the situation. The whole sequence takes about a second so it's pretty hard for inexperienced folks to catch what's going on. Watch the video closely and you'll see what I'm talking about.

My Chessie female will likely get her Open Obedience Title this summer (she already has her CD), she competes in Agilty and she hunts waterfowl. Are they heardheaded? We've had four. They are independent thinkers, and are not a dog for an inexperienced handler. But that does not mean they aren't sensitive. They respond best to someone who is willing to lead - and this does not mean being tough - it simply means being consistent, fair, and firm. They are really smart and will test you if they don't think you are up to the job of leader. They make incredible partners in all sports - love to show off how smart they are, and can be one of the funniest breeds - they are often clowns who have a sophisticated sense of humor. Because they are so intelligent, they do best when they get a lot of human companionship - living in the house, being with the family.

Your timing is so bad, combining no with sit is just silly .. you're making dog training harder than it have to be! but hey, whatever floats your boat.
