I'm a waifu collector so I mainly prefer horizontal investment, however I do sometimes invest a little bit more on my main DPS characters. I usually try to get E1 or S1 on them if I can afford to. I also don't min-max on relics, I usually settle for just "good enough" relics on everyone, with the exception of a few of my main DPSes. I don't like wasting resources for minimal gains. Edit: Thinking about it, I'm quite surprised that I prefer horizontal investment in Star Rail since there are many other games where I prefer to focus on one character or team. I think I just find it easier to farm materials and relics in HSR, plus most content is easy enough where you can get away with mediocre gear on your team. In contrast, games like WuWa and Genshin, I'd much rather focus on 1 or 2 main teams because farming mats and gear is a bit more tedious. I especially hate Genshin's time-gates farming nodes where you can only farm a specific mat on a specific day of the week.

for me a better 4 stars.gallagher and guinafen are the only one i can think of that is a useful limited 4*, mostly are meh and others are dead on arrival like hanya(pun not intended)

The problem with dot is that we only have 3 limited characters since the start of the game, all the other archetypes like FUA, Hypercarry and Break have a lot more, Break as a archetype started last 2 att and already have more characters than dot.

If we're talking about all hoyo characters, then only one comes to mind: The GOAT Otto Apocalyplse.

While i do agree that there is too much new limited 5* each patch, expecting to pull and get the character on every banner is just unrealistic as a f2p or low spender player, more people need to realize you don’t need every character thats comes out

What's going to happen is at some point in the future they're going to be enemies that have Shields that break as you hit them and follow-up teams and dot Teams will be dominant during that kind of meta

I think content creators centering and focusing on the new player (ie E0S0 everyone) is obscuring characters’ needs for eidolons and lightcones; Acheron really changed the game with the way E2S1 was pushed. The DoT characters all want an sig LC (+E2 tbh), Fu Xuan becomes VERY hard to replace at E1S1, etc. Reruns for an eidolon or two are a lot more viable and important than it seems only experiencing “f2p” showcases or E6S5 god modes

I’m honestly at the point where I am close to getting all the characters I use to max traces. All with their own max LC, all max level and with full max level relics. This is for a bit over 20 characters. I could farm for better relics, but for most characters I have good enough ones with a couple of characters with great relics. I’m honestly close to running out of things to farm unless I just start farming for completely perfect relics

1:20 Ruan Mei actually fixes the anti-synergy between weakness break and DoTs. To figure out why that is, lets establish 2 key facts: 1.) Weakness break applies a 25% action delay. This is the anti-synergy between weakness break and DoTs. 2.) Without HMC/Gallagher, lets assume the average Ruan Mei has around 200% Break Effect in a DoT team. This means her secondary action delay is around 50%. But this is not an anti-synergy because THE ENEMY STILL TAKES A TICK OF DOT DAMAGE DURING THE TURN THAT RUAN MEI DELAYS THEIR BROKEN STATE. Without Ruan Mei taken into account, weakness break would reduce DoT DPS by 25%. Without weakness break's action delay taken into account, 200 BE Ruan Mei would indirectly increase DoT DPS by around 50%. When both are taken into account, 200 BE Ruan Mei would indirectly increases DoT DPS by around 25%. This is how Ruan Mei fixes the anti-synergy between weakness and DoTs. Also, you mentioned how DoTs have anti-synergy with freeze in your previous video about this topic. Here is how the freeze effect works: When enemy gets their turn during their frozen state: DoT ticks, enemy unfreezes, enemy gains 50% action advance When enemy gets their turn after unfreezing: DoT ticks, enemy takes their action In other words, the frozen status indirectly increases DoT DPS by 50%.

I think HoYo has done a great job of helping ease the level of powercreep by releasing a unit like Harmony MC that is entirely free, requires minimal investment, and allows for everyone to play a new playstyle. If you pull 1 limited unit (RM), use HMC, Gallagher, and even Sushang/Himeko/whoever, you can use Super Break and do well. Also, I’ve been a Fu Xuan player since day one of her release and I think she’s always going to be consistent like other characters can’t be. Same with Huohuo, I have never regretted missing Aventurine and never will I think. Investment in Huohuo’s E1 and Fu Xuan in general will help clear all content without an issue, and Gallagher is also absurdly strong for being a four star.

They need to release a physical dot nihility support. Something akin to how good Ruan Mei is for break and Robin for follow ups. Having a harmony support for dot wouldn't make sense, since this game likes the nihility class working together.

I'm still confused by his Aventurine vs FX argument. Even if we strip him of his FUA dmg, his sustain alone is still massive, and covers the big weakness that FX has which is large AOE dmg.

I beg to differ on your example with ruan mei not being good with DOT. In fact what ruan mei does is giving you more time with the ennemi weakness broken, which mean more damage, and make the ennemi take 2 actions in quick succession which make them take DOT damage each time (and is not a problem with current DOT characters since even black swan, which would be the worsely affected can work around it without damage loss). Plus all of her buffs are usefull for DOT characters (except the break effect but it is usefull in some niche scenarios)

The thing with Aventurine is that you don't need an Imaginary-weak enemy to make him function. Same goes to Fu Xuan, you don't need Quantum-weak enemies to make her function. Building Aventurine with damage is purely optional not a requirement just because he has a passive that increases his crit rate based on his DEF. This goes as well to Fu Xuan having Crit Rate traces but building her with damage is purely optional as well. What makes Aventurine better than FX is that, his FUA is not just a simple attack but it refreshes the duration of his shield and adds another layer of shield. That alone makes him very SP positive. Also, those shields are not just mere thick shields but it offers 50% EFF RES to everyone which is huge especially to your buffers who run Broken Keel or just have 30% EFF RES above. Even for a DPS to have a 50% EFF RES is already a huge increase to their survivability (not including those charas yet who can increase their own eff res). Yes Fu Xuan can guarantee CC resist for 1 turn but in order for her to make sure that her team can't get CCed from time to time, she needs to recast it whereas with Aventurine, the battle starts with everyone getting a shield already meaning, the 50% EFF RES is already in effect for everyone. Both of them are great Preservation units but given that they are Preservation units who specializes in protecting the team, Aventurine gives that comfort more than Fu Xuan. Its really weird to me when people add the qualifier to seele "but she has to be really invested" surely if you pulled her in 1.0 and you are trying to force her in all content still instead of dropping her for new characters shes going to be really invested. and she has shown that if she is invested in (e0s1 good artifacts) she can comfortably clear all content. I think she has actually shown herself to be a somewhat futureproof character based on her mechanics

My only concern is the incresing HP bars in endgame modes without offering power boosting solutions for older units. DoT is in decline because enemies get higher HP bars plus the game has been focusing of Follow Ups and Super break lately. However, Kafka is still the most future proof the game has ever designed. Her ability to apply a debuff with a follow up proved to be extremely broken for Acheron. And she will be useful when units skills or ults get charges with follow ups. I would put as priority units that deal HP % damage whenever they go in that direction because the HP-creep is surely a problem.

If hoyo wants to make DoT meta again, its gonna need a MC treatment. Give us an option to try out the playstyle with a MC path. I dont have the jades to pull for 4 5 stars to build a top tier team. Id rather focus on flexable teams that i can piviot around the situations

I think despite being over a year old this game is still in it's infacy and that's why we're seeing so much powercreep. Break wasn't well understood or commonly utilized so they added super break and DPS that scale w/ break to make it better and now it's in the meta. Unit's like Acheron are seen as broken and OP but she's like maybe the third hypercarry unit we've actually seen. IL was also seen as busted at his release (even before sparkle) and then JL seemingly powercrept him (until sparkle) and was also seen as "the meta is out of control". None of these units are that far apart. The powercreep really doesn't exist as much as people make it out. Regarding sustainers, I think Luocha is the biggest mistake this game made. They seem to have figured out no on is impressed by a sustainers sustaining power considering Geopard does it perfectly well and so we're looking at other utility they bring. Luocha's "subdps" was so minimal I think he's the worst 5star in the game now. Huohuo was a correction and while I think Aventurine is better than her and FuXuan I don't think it's be an enormous margin until you get into eidolons and LC's. Units like Robin took forever to even get a 5star. It's not surpising when we finally get one they're OP. We only had 4stars before. They also seem to be really obsessed with not letting characters die off. Blade got massively buffed with Jade and they're supposedly leaning into 'pet' characters getting more buffs in the future to fix JY's weaknesses. So I don't think they're just letting characters fall out of the meta and not doing anything about it. There are a few exceptions, namely Luka, who were just poorly designed from the getgo.

But I try to full clear as much as I can as a F2P player so I can pull more lol :(

I think what makes powercreep feel so much worse then it actually is. is that They like to make new content character to a specific character, the best wxample of this is firefly where when she came out every new piece of content seemed to he designed specifically for her. Like for example, pure fiction is suppose to be for single target and it kinda is, but if you look at it's clearly designed for break more times then not

On the Aventurine vs Fu Xuan Topic: I think this its more of an issue of generalist vs specialist sustain characters. Huohuo and Fu Xuan are extremely generalist characters that work with essentially any team and can sustain well + buff them a bit (HH moreso then Fu). However, they don't have any strong inherent synergies with a specific playstyle, so they will not elevate teams the same way Aventurine does with FUA teams. This also makes them inherently more replacable by 4* characters, like Gallagher, in their specific niches. Add to this that the strongest teams in the game currently all heavily rely on their sustain being highly synergistic with the rest of the team, and you can see the problem. Yes, FX and HH have a similiar baseline to Aventurine, arguably higher outside of FUA, but they cannot come anywhere close to his hights. That's why I'd argue that a sustain with a very strong niche is going to be more resilient to powercreep than a generalist sustain.

My nihility support for dot. () Talent: When enemy get inflicted with dot or refresh dot, they get 3 stacks of X. Each stack of X increase multiplier of dot on the enemy by 1%, max 100%. When X is bigger than 25, for every 5 crit rate () has, enemy receive bleed dot equal 0.5% of their hp at the start of their turn. Skill: Increase all enemy crit damage receive by 45% for 3 turn. Ult: All enemy receive XX, when enemy have XX, dot on them can crit, and the dot on them get detonate by 30% at the end of their turn. Create field, increase crit rate of all char by 30% crit rate of (), if ally is nihility, increase their crit rate by another 25%. When field is active, both side increase speed by 20% and ehr by 10%.

all i have to say is that yunli is the most fun character i have played since this game launched, hands down. i don't know how long she will be relevant, but i am definitely waiting for her rerun to grab her light cone and probably e1. is that smart? maybe not. is that my plan? yep.

Why do people want crit dot so bad? Like one of the thing that make dot dealer unique is the fact that they need to drop crit to get ehr and speed, which are the stst that normal dps don't put as top priority

People convinced they know whats coming in 3.0 are crazy. Like even if you follow leaks 2.6 was gonna be screwlum then his kit was given to a different character. again. Like that should be enough proof that you really cant trust whats in the pre beta stuff too much.
