I’ve made two of these palazzo pants now. Such a flattering and wonderful design. And the sew-a-long is a lovely addition to the comprehensive written instructions. ❤

I love all the options, they have a con i don't like. 1) the first doesn't last if you wash it. 2) the second is hard on my hands, pulling the elastic to me atch the fabric. 3) I don't like time consuming. So, I LIKE THEM ALL, NONETHELESS, THEY ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL, IF DOING THEM CORRECTLY.

Hi, Sasha! Thank you for teaching us! You are the first one I have seen a video on how to shirr with an elastic. I understand the process of the elastic thread, to steam and shrink. But if I do shirring with just elastic, what is the difference in shrinkage between the two kinds of shirring. Example: to shirr with elastic thread, we double the measurements of the fabric, to allow for shrinkage. How do we measure fabrics, when using regular elastic?? Example, making a 5 yr. old girl's dress... Thank you for your answer!! Jesus loves you!

I made a dress from Batik I was given. Thought I’d give it a quick wash so I could wear it the next day. Sooooo glad I did, a LOT of dye came out. Took lots of rinsing & a turn through the machine on handwashing too.

I'm very interested in using your channel elastic method. How do I avoid bulky seams
@sashastarlight
@sashastarlight 19 күн бұрын
Seams will by nature be a bit on the bulkier side with this method - they can be encased with binding or the elasticated part used as a panel for a neat effect 🙃 ✨

Hello Sasha, I've bought 2cm wide ribbon but I only have 3cm wide elastic right now, will it be okay to use together? I've noticed your elastic and tape seem to have only a 0.5cm gap, I wonder if I should stick to those proportions.

Growing up in the UK, we girls got the smocked dresses and blouses. Here in the US, I am sewing an old (70s) vintage child's peasant dress with shirring for the bodice. I would have to mail off for the elastic thread and end up paying from $15 up. I like frugal. I can walk to the shop and get the 1/4 inch elastic, so the third method it is. I learned to embroider and mend as a child, (dad learned hand sewing and mending in the military and I became his recruit) so I actually like the sewing machine and hand sewing just fine. Thank you.

hello, i just bought your pattern and i have a question regarding sizing. My measurements are bust - 100cm, waist 90cm, and hip 115cm. My measurments almost exatly maximum body measurements for each size. Are dungarees relaxed enought for me to make them in size SMALL, or should i size up? Since the fit is "relaxed" I am worried if i size up the dungarees are going to be too big.
@sashastarlight

Hi there, sorry to have missed this! For pattern help it's always best to get in touch with me on Etsy where I get back within 24hrs 🙃 I would go for the size SMALL as it will be a good fit for you at the hip, then the ties will allow you to draw it in to your waist measurement for a closer fit there 👍 ✨

Hi Kim! This is a suiting weight pure wool and I got it from one of the shops in Shepherd's Bush, London UK but it was quite a few years ago - I bought the whold bolt as it was such a good price & I loved the colour! If you're based in London normally I get my fabric at Woolcrest Textiles in Hackney as it's near my studio, online via independent sellers on Etsy or I have my own digital prints made up with Maake. Hope that's helpful! 🙃 ✨

Thank you for this video and especially for the third method! I was thinking of trying smth like this but somehow it seemed too time consuming. But honestly considering how much i always struggle with the first method, i think the third one might be quicker for me. I made a few dresses with the first method and i swear to god, every time smth happened - one time the shirring suddenly became looser halfway through and no matter how much I fiddled with tension it would not go back; the other time the elastic thread i bought was apparently too old and just kept breaking; not to mention how tedious it is to change lower tension on my machine and then change it back to normal without my machine(or me) having a tantrum. Anyways, enough complaining :) thank u for this, i'm definitely gonna use the third method from now on! Also I love ur style <3
