** Please note this pattern was originally called the STARLIGHT KIMONO SUIT JACKET as a reference to the inspiration I took from the simple shapes of the Japanese kimono style when designing the piece. After finding out about discussions on the use of the word Kimono out of context in the Japanese American sewing community I have since changed the name to the STARLIGHT COCOON SUIT JACKET

Even though she said she wouldn’t recommend this as your first project I still decided I’d try, and even though the pieces I cut out were supbar and the stitches were a lil ugly it turned out awesome!!!!

I just finished cutting all my fabric pieces and decided to give this a watch before I start stitching. What a terrific pattern companion video! I feel like I've watched a billion sewing tutorials, and yours is the only one that includes info on what stitch type/length to use at each step. I'm not a beginner anymore myself, but I know I sure would have appreciated that kind of detail! Also the bit about how to roll the edges to push the seams out. Little things like that often go unmentioned (as assumed knowledge I guess) but we have to learn it from someone! Thanks for a great tutorial and I can't wait to check out your other patterns.

Just finished today and they're so great! I learned so much, and you're tutorials and patterns made it much easier than it should have been. The pants and jacket were my second and third pieces of clothing ever and they came out stellar. I'll be wearing mine in my friend's wedding in August.

Just got to the point where you seal the sleeves. I read the instructions. I watched the video. I said to myself, "this person has lost their marbles," and then I tried it. Perfection! YOU ARE A GENIUS!

I stumbled along your fantastic videos. I can't wait to try some of your makes! Question for you...I listened to your fabric suggestions. Is there any way I could use a thick blanket for this pattern? I have a team blanket that has a large logo on it that I hope would work for this pattern but wondering if it would be too thick to use. I ask because it would be a one time only situation. I'm not able to order another blanket unfortunately. I appreciate any feedback you have to offer!

Oooh interesting.... I think it would work but I'd use it for the top collar only and something thinner but stiff for the undercollar like a denim. Have you seen my Blanket Coat tutorial though? I might be better suited to that 🙃 ✨

Hi Sasha, Your tube video is quite helpful. I just have one question. I am making this jacket and I have been asked to use the lining fabric for the collar. Do you think this will work as the lining fabric is a lighter fabric than fabric used for main part of the jacket.?

It could work but I would definitely interface it - perhaps twice if it's very thin! Also just to say - for pattern help I always get back within 24hrs on Etsy if you ever need help again the future 🥰 ✨

Hi please could you put the measurements up somewhere for this pattern and the palazzo pants? I can’t find it on the Etsy page, I’m a short very round lady and I have learnt one persons large is not the same as my large! I realise these patterns are quite forgiving but a bust/ waist/ hip measurement (maximum for the size) would be really helpful. Thank you.
