Kick once when both hands enter the water after the recovery. Kick another one at the end of the pull before recovery

the key here is to make sure your neck is straight and yre ears are in the water. New swimmers tend to want to keep their head up floating and this puts a lot of strain in yre neck and tires you faster. You just relax, drop your head and stare at the sky. Once u're comfortable with this, the rest is easy.

I don't know how or why, but I can float effortlessly without moving, completely standing still and in an upright position. I've been told it looks totally weird, like I'm just standing in water.

An aunt in Greece taught me to swim when i was a kid... And i know its is much easier in salt water but she was very firm on prior to swimming learning to float and swim on back to be able to rest... by the end of day 1 we were snorkelling for octopus...spent entire summer swimming with her every day...the longest out there was about 4 hrs floating on back...she was big into snorkeling so she would have me dive come up blow water out spit out snorkel turn on back and float just to make water like a second home...and be abled to switch fluidly snorkel to no snorkel...one thing i rmember was how hard it was to swim down to pick up a shell in salt water.... Ironically decades later in same water she died i believe of heart attack while swimming...probably the place she wanted to die....

Better to see professional coach channel. Not amateur who cannot control even own body. Anybody can teach beginner swimmers like this guy. But they will learn wrong technique and spend time & effort.
