When removing the oil with the makeup sponge thing, are you using anything to remove? (Mineral spirits, etc)

i didnt use any mineral spirits or other things to remove the oil. You can take a look on my Emperors Children Video. There are some more captures of the removal process.

no spirits at all involved. Just eyeshadow applicator tools, you will need about 2-3 for a clean finish.

I think it would look better if you used a matte varnish. It's probably because you used a satin varnish over a high gloss. It's left the model somewhere in between which is still too glossy.
@plaguenarr23 күн бұрын
I like the shine on the Blood angels armor. I always use satin. To mate makes it in most of the cases to toy looking! The gloss happen because i was to hasty while applying the wash before the gloss varnish was dry. A Matt could fix that that's true. But im happy how it came out :)

@plaguenarrАй бұрын
Thank you very much! Glad that i can inspire you to get on with your painting! You have to trust the process on stippling and use thin paint in multiple layers. It also looks awful on my models at the start. But the Contrast wash will make the transitions smooth :)
@padanfain7466Ай бұрын
@@plaguenarr Thanks for the tip, I will give it a go at some point, and yeah thats one of the steps in painting. Trust the process. Sometimes it looks terrible until you finish when it all comes together. I've only had the airbrush 6 months and getting some really nice armour from it already, which is good. Just finished a few months painting on a joint Proteus and Spartan Land Raider project. Very happy with the finished product, used the old Forge World special doors set to spice it up :) The battle damage on your tutorial was really spot on. Also nice to see someone else painting the joints using silver and the studs in gold on the shoulder pads.

An alternative could be a burnt umber/raw umber oil wash and then reduce with mineral spirits. Probably more forgiving than an acrylic contrast wash.
@plaguenarr25 күн бұрын
@@blairhouston7148 Indeed. I use oil washes on my Alpha Legion, and other several Grimdark schemes i have painted. the only problem is the dry time. Contrast also gives me the opportunity to get a balance between Grimdark and Eavy Metal and i dont have to wait to long to paint on.

Amazing and easy technique, just as a quick question, du you know a substitute for P3 Necrotite Green from the Citadel range?
@plaguenarrАй бұрын
Necrotite Green is very intense. So there is no direct alternative. What would probably work is, take 2 parts Moot green and 1 part Flash Gitz Yellow. Wont be directly the same. but it will work as well. You can also go in step 1 for a more intense yellow and glaze over a very thin mix of moot green and water to layer softly up.

@plaguenarrАй бұрын
Thank you, buddy! if you struggle with hazard stripes, take a look on pk-pro shop (link in description). Buy some masking tape in the size you want them. I guess for a marine it should be 1-3mm ones. Simply just do it by masking the area and paint over. On the other hand, its good brush control practice. Use a painting handle, support your hands on the desk. Use thin not thick paint! And go on for freehand and brush control practice!🤟
