The fight between K and Luv was crazy and so good. Far better than the fights with world ending stakes in other movies.

0:09 20,000 years in the future* The 10,000 you see in the calendar is at the beginning of the first movie is 10,000 years from a specific date of something happening and 10,000 years before that is now

The way Villeneuve communicates how worm-riding works in this scene is also worthy of remark; using the hooks to expose the spiracles, and then the worm instantly responding by rolling the xposed section up and away from the sand, a single shot demonstrates what half a page of text explains in the book. Remarkable work.

For me, Paul accomplishing sandworm ride misison with such struggle adds more geniunity to the movie. We`re not watching Marvel super hero. He is still a young man in late 20s. So, I expect him to have hard time to stand on a giant moving animal

Hi, Thomas - have you got any recommendations with regards books or courses or whatever that could point me in the right direction for learning more about film? I feel that watching you and the few videos that Every Frame A Painting made have changed my perception of film-making and I'd love to learn more about where you learned from....

I couldn't get past wondering how the worm was propelling itself through the sand. At another point in the film, we see a very young worm undulating through the sand like a snake, which made sense. But I couldn't comprehend how the giant worms were able to move through the sand and such while velocity while their bodies appeared to remain straight.

Freman and even Harkonnen use goggles that retracts to their headwear or helmet. You can see this in 2 secens. With Freman, during the harvester attack when they come out of the sand, fight and run to take down the thoper, it's visible for a fraction of second 😂 Harkonnen one is easier to see, it's in the thopter with Raban screaming at the pilots 😅

I adore getting lost in the sound in either Part One or Part Two of Dune. It's beyond fantastic and sometimes given that I've seen both movies easily over 8 times it's great to close your eyes at some points to really let the audio take over... it's really at least 50% of what makes the movies insane to me next to the visuals and all of course. The only other example coming to mind, coming close or even being on the same level is Oppenheimer. Though there's nothing that can replace that freaking iconic thumping sound haha... I love how they recorded sand layers even beep below the thumper to make sure it really sounds tactile and "right", that deep deep thumping.

This is intellectually incredible and also ironic when comparing citizens in Israel to people in Gaza. Quite allegorical. This movie tackled with the most difficult: the expression of the artistic and the political at once in a high level. This movie makes us think and confused and feel uneasy.

It’s happening right now in Palestine. Every day. I can’t understand how any Jewish person can participate in the ethnic cleansing of another country, gleefully stealing the homes of Palestinians and moving in as if they never existed, growing their own back yard gardens and drowning out the sounds of gunfire in the West Bank and tanks, drones, and American bombs dropping on Gaza, mothers screaming for their children under mountains of rubble they used to call home, trapped in the world’s largest open-air prison, images released by whistleblowers showing concentration camps of Palestinians dehumanized and degraded, tortured, experimented on, operated on without anesthesia, open festering wounds that eventually require amputation, and constant slaughter, not just of men but women, elderly, children… innocent babies born after October 7 who have committed no crime, bombed in their sleep. Children playing in the streets, sniped by Israeli soldiers like it’s a game to wait until the children felt a moment of peace to end their lives while their friends and families scream their names. How is this happening in the same century as the Holocaust? How is this not just happening in the same century, but the victim of the first is the aggressor of the second? How did Jews forget what happened to their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents and choose to participate in inflicting those same horrors on someone else, with more advanced and sinister technology? Why do they let it become background noise as they are witnessing the daily slaughter of 2 million people, carrying on with their lives on the other side of the Gaza prison wall? This is not the future the Jews dreamed of for their grandchildren if they could survive and someday escape. This is not the future they died for. And yet, here we are.

Okay another thought - I think it’s more about critique, like you don’t wanna break down and think too much about art, books or movies you like - you just like them cause they make you feel good and if you look beneath the surface it breaks the illusion and you might not enjoy it anymore - Jordan Petterson said that in one of his videos to a certain extent

Oh my god! Thank god somebody explained it better cause I see videos about how movies, tv series and music today sucks and I know they suck but nobody could really pinpoint why and this guy right did! I hope all creative people watch this especially the ones in big studios, labels whatever and please for gods sake CHANGE ! Because all this post morden or self reflective bs is really bringing me down, movies were my only safe haven and lately all I do is go back to the content before 2010 on repeat! Everything is so depressing right now to meta and not even in a making fun of yourself meta. These kind of movies have always existed but now it’s the norm and that is so bothersome. How long are you gonna be self-deprecating how long!? 🤯
