What’s the T logo? I’ve seen it on the Eglinton line stations as well. Is this the new subway logo for TTC or just for the LRT lines?
@grammin25 күн бұрын
Don’t quote me but it’s a new symbol from Metrolinx that identifies transit within their operating jurisdiction, for lack of a better term, as part of the their wayfinding strategy. Not sure to what extent it will be applied with regard to existing GO, UP, TTC etc.

Yes, the stops are rounding out quite nicely. The key is to have good headways so you’re not waiting too long eh! That’s the secret to transit for me.

they should extend finch to the airport, also connect the convention hall and the casino while their at it. A total no brainer. Don’t know why a finch west extension wasn’t being built at the same time like crosstown. it would’ve been done already!

@@gramminI think they’ll extend it to Woodbine Racetrack and have a new GO station there too. A bit too close proximity to Etobicoke North (maybe it will be omitted), which will necessitate it being sent to Pearson
@rebeccawinter47223 күн бұрын
Yes, Etobicoke North will be closing and replaced by Woodbine GO, which will be new Line 6 terminus. Tho an eventual extension to YYZ - if they build a proper transit centre for Line 5, Line 6, and thru trains for GO (Kitchener Line - by then UP will be redundant as GO running every 15 mins or better).

Why would they name it Science Centre Station when it won't even be near the science centre in a couple years
@MikeAllan_SEOCoachАй бұрын
When the Science Centre moves to Ontario Place the Science Centre station will be renamed Don Mills. The current Don Mills station will be renamed Fairview Mall.

I know why Metrolinx projects take 4 to 5 times longer than they should. It's simple. It's money !! The Stouffville Line from Unionville to Scarborough could have been double tracked and platformed 2 years ago; I've been following it. There's perhaps 30 projects, and only money to do 5 projects intensely and quickly. So the Gov't does a little on A, then a little on B, and then to C, and then to D, and then to E, and to F. Then they come back and work on A again. Witness Exhibition Station. They were grading the Ontario Line, and moved tracks 1 and 2 to the north for the Express centre platform. Now there is almost no construction there, and the space between tracks 2 and 3 is not getting a centre platform yet. At this rate, we will have electric, 15 minute interval service on the Hamilton, Bramalea, Maple, Unionville, and Oshawa destinations in about 30 years, The workers often look like they were in slow mo also. When they do a project, like the Davenport Flyover, it can be done quite quickly; that is proof of my theory. Aarre Peltomaa of Mississauga, Ontario [email protected] (647) 202-7267

The UP proposal is to replace it with every 15 minute trains on the GO line to Kitchener. So service would be just as frequent. And would be better as would be free if you are transferring from TTC - using the new integrated fare in the city.
@grammin27 күн бұрын
I noticed some new construction barriers at Dundas West Station Line 2 station for the pedestrian connection to Bloor UP last weekend. Be nice if the fares were integrated but the current cost is quite different.

It seems strange that they have a software issue this late in the game. When the first batch of Flexities were delivered for the Waterloo Region ION LRT, they had software issues that reduced the functionality of the train control and delayed opening of the line. You would think that should have taken care of any issues for Eglinton Crosstown.
@gramminАй бұрын
That's interesting, I guess there is also the uniqueness of each line. Because of all the one time unique interactions along the Golden Mile, it may require tweaking. But you would have imagined given the timescale that this would have been modelled in detail already. Of course, I don't know what tools are used in this kind of project.
@avalons343Ай бұрын
This is far from the most complex software on earth. The fact that it's taking this long to fix software is very strange. It's not as though they are inventing it. At this point I feel there are other reasons not disclosed.

it looks like they've pretty much haulted work on finishes. No evident reason those minor things would not be complete by now... it's a bit ridiculous.

I’m thinking they’re just trivialities at this point. They now know they have a three month buffer for clean up. 🤷

Maybe they are deliberately delaying completing the final details of the stations so that people won't ask "Why isn't the Crosstown open yet? The stations look finished."

Thanks Stephen, I’ll try to get over there. I was up at the Humber station the other day. Looks totally done. I was hoping to see some trains but alas. Shouldn’t be too long I hope. Hurontario LRT (HM) is lagging quite a bit as well. All the works are around the MSF but not a great spot to visit.

Hurontario LRT should probably see a lot of progress this year but I think it’s likely a 2026 opening. I’ve heard rumours that Metrolinx is going to open both Finch and Eglinton at the same time - which I guess would make sense in terms of updating signage throughout the system
