Wow thanks for this. I'm doing a door and was deciding whether to by a dedicated tool or this rockler device. Rockler it is so far. Unless i find the energy to make a jig for dowels😊. Thanks again.

Make a sled to cut those tapers so you are not caught between the blade and fence if it grabs or kicks. Takes a few minutes to make one and helps your fingers last a lifetime.

Best "Build a Screen Door" video I've watch. Video production may be better on others but your woodworking skills and techniques were a great help. Thanks. How is the screen door today? Warped or Sagging?

Not sagging, white oak just greys up which is what I wanted. The only thing I might have to do is change the screw heads on the hinges as they are rusting a little.

The whole concept behind a carriage bolt is the square shape underneath the domed head. That square shape is designed to bite into the wood, to keep the bolt from spinning. Carriage bolts are not meant to have a washer under the head! If you put a washer under the head, you disable the square biting element, so when you tighten the nut, the bolt spins, and it's awkward to get a wrench under the head to hold it. You're better off using a standard hex bolt in that case, so you could at least grab it with a wrench when tightening the bolt. Or, better still, use the carriage bolt with no washer under the head, and then when you tighten the nut the bolt won't spin.

Instead of using two nuts per bolt, just use a lock nut.

Nice. I found this because I am looking for ideas for the case I want to build. What I can't figure out is how to make the access. I am wanting to display four long guns and six pistols, dating from the 16th to the early 20th century. The case will be around four and a half feet by three and a half. I am not thinking it will be fort Knox, but I want it to be hard for someone with a hammer and a pry bar. I'll lag bolt it to studs and use Plexiglas, but how to make the door and secure it is my sticking point. I could use a piano hing and a lock of some kind or split sliding doors, but a single door that size will be pretty large and I don't really want a split in it.

I would like to ask a question about this plainer. I just received one today 7-30-23 and the front shoe will move away from perpendicular to the cutting blade when you set it to lowest setting. in other words, it moves until you set the cutting depth for a deeper cut. is this normal on this plainer?

You seem to have a wealth of knowledge with this magazine. I'm trying to rekindle a childhood memory. Being an avid Famous Monster of Filmland collector, I recall reading a story in "possibly" Eerie. Scare the the shit out of me as a kid in the 70's. Unfortunately, I've been unable to locate this comic strip story. All I could remember is the story involved a girl jumping into a swimming pool (I believe indoor) and what she thought was water turned out to be acid. I don't know why I remember this after 48 years. Do you know which story or issue featured this story? I don't believe it was Creepy magazine do to the artwork. PLEASE HELP
