I have much respect for RE4, but as someone who started with the original RE1, RE4 is not my cup of tea. But it sure influenced all games after it

About 15 years ago my best friend and I played Day of Defeat casually. It wasn't our favorite game, but we liked it. Well, we introduced it to his younger brother, and he ended up getting so addicted to it he had to quit ALL gaming for years afterward. Kind of funny which games people can get into.

Kirby air ride in last…no reason to watch the rest of the video I cannot fathom how anyone would think that. Even if it’s not your cup of tea you’d be a fool to not acknowledge its quality and originality. It was Sakurai at the top of his game and easily one of the best nintendo party games!

I never understood hating invisible walls. As a kid, I always believed them to be a necessity to prevent games from being unreasonably large. And with the direction that modern games have gone in terms of scale, I've only grown more vindicated in that belief as time has passed.

I think the best game Valve made is Portal, while the sequel was bigger I also think it diluted some elements from the first one. Don't get me wrong Portal 2 is amazing but I feel the first game was lighting in a bottle and the second one just couldn't quite recapture that magic. If I had to rank the 4 Valve games that I've played and there all fantastic they would be: 4.Half-Life 3.Left 4 Dead 2 2.Portal 2 1.Portal Also GLADOS is my favorite video game villain.

I personally have a few grips with Super Metroid. Mainly because the movement feels a bit to floaty and due to my sever skillissue i often miss jumps because it just carrys me just a bit further than i expected. Also the weapon switching is horrendous but that the SNES fault and nnot really the games. Level design, bosses, music, items and all are 10/10 but it jsut feels a but old to control. Which for me who started with Zero Mission in the series is .... ah well its a bit uncomfortable. The only reason i would want a Super Metroid Remake is just so that we get the snapy controls of Dread, than i could die happy I personally also would put Zero Mission on No.2 and Dread on No.1 simply because their controls feel better for me. I think my personal list would be 1. Dread 2. Zero Mission 3. Super Metroid (the better controls of ZM and Dread just do more for me, though i am very aware that its kinda unfair towards Super Metroid) 4. Fusion 5. Metroid 2 6. Metroid Prime (also never played through the entire thing) 7. Other M 8. Prime Hunters I never played Metroid 1, Pinball, Federation Force, Samus Return Remake, Prime 2 and Prime 3. I can very much imagine from what i have seen that Samus Returns Remake will snuck its way to No.4 beating Fusion once i play it and since i heared a lot of good things about Prime 2 it could potentially become No.5 pushing Fusion down another place but otherwise..... 2D Metroids are just far more my jam.

Gordon Freeman in a cleavage-baring dress while tied up to a stake... you're causing some mighty peculiar awakenings with that image, Rabbid. Kinda sad I don't really have more to say than that though- Valve has been so fallow with their games lately that I don't really feel anything for them these days. Though I should note I say that because I don't own a VR headset and I haven't played Alyx... but I guess I' wondering how well it's sold and how much of an impact it'll really leave.

Honestly only played the left 4 dead games, TF2, Portal 2 and part of Half Life 2, so my ranking... 1. Left 4 Dead 2 2. Team Fortress 2 3. Left 4 Dead 4. Portal 2 5. Half Life 2 (though I will admit I'd probably enjoy it a lot more of I had played the first one to get some more in-universe context)

On the topic of TF2 recently Valve essentially Thanos snapped about 90% of the bots and cheaters, and are continuing to ban future ones, they just released a great summer update with some awesome fixes, and rumor has it they are working on the final comic.

IMO Portal 2 should’ve been no.1. It’s probably cause I never finished HL 1 and haven’t played HL 2. At least you didn’t insult gamers every where by putting it anywhere below the top 3 and you are indeed spitting facts that it is one of the best games ever made.

The dumbest thing about half life 2 is that so few games copied it. I mean crysis did, so did bishock, Dishonored and prey. And last us of us 1. And each one of the games that copied it is incredible, but i'm surprised there aren't more.
@rpgfan1187
@rpgfan1187 5 күн бұрын
In the cases of Bioshock, Dishonored, and Prey, I'd argue that those took more inspiration from classic immersive sims. Bioshock may not be a full-fledged immersive sim but contains many of the elements of that design philosophy, and it's heavily inspired by System Shock. Ken Levine even headed development of System Shock 2. Dishonored and Prey are both immersive sims by Arkane, who follow very much in the footsteps of Looking Glass Studios. Dishonored takes plenty of inspiration from the Thief duology, while Prey is an ode to System Shock. To your point, though, I will say that Half-Life 2 and Dishonored shared some of the same level designers, and Half-Life 2's physics engine definitely had an influence on each of the games you mentioned.

One moment for me would be the first time you beat Hades in the game named after him. After what was likely a good few runs & possibly even losing to him once or twice, you dodge like a madman pelting him with whatever weapon you chose, land that final blow & all he can muster is basically asking how the fuck you did that before the Styx takes him like it took you so many times. Shit is SATISFYING

Do you think you'll ever rank Looking Glass Studios' Immersive Sims? My ranking of them is: 1. Thief II: The Metal Age (2000) 2. Thief: The Dark Project (1998) 3. System Shock (1994) 4. Ultima Underworld II: The Labyrinth of Worlds (1993) 5. System Shock 2 (1999) 6. Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss (1992)

What about system shock 2 puts it a few spots below the first for you?
@rpgfan1187
@rpgfan1187 5 күн бұрын
@@russellwestbrook462 While I still love System Shock 2 (it was my introduction to Looking Glass Studios), it has some flaws that hold it back from the higher ranks for me. It has some amazing areas (just like the first game), but the quality goes off the cliff in the late game, with the final two levels being downright awful. This was due to rushed development, and Looking Glass were under a lot of pressure to finish the game by a certain deadline. Despite being a huge RPG Fan (as my username implies), I found the insertion of the RPG upgrade system to be sort of limiting in System Shock 2, and it's actually possible to soft-lock yourself if you don't put some points into agility by the late-game. Additionally, I prefer the overall story and execution of System Shock 1 over 2. System Shock 1 is a harder game to get into because of its dated UI, visuals, and mechanics, but I personally love the depth and complexity of the game. The System Shock Remake makes this game more approachable, but, while I love it, too, I do miss the soundtrack and aesthetics of the original version and found some aspects -- like the recycling mechanic in the vein of Prey (2017) -- to be unnecessary additions.

I really want to get into the half life games but I’m confused why half life 2 is 3 games. Like episode 1, episode 2, and HL2 without the subtitle. Unless HL2 are both episodes bundled together but I’m so confused looking at the steam search results. Why is there an option to buy half a game?
@rpgfan1187

Half-Life 2 (without the subtitle) is the main game. Episode 1 and 2 are both expansion packs (kind of like DLC) that continue on the story from where Half-Life 2 left off.
