Yes, even tho the taxis in town are not as cheap as they used to be, doing the bus into downtown & then taking a taxi to your Tulum accommodations is still a lot cheaper unless you have a big group splitting the cost of a private shuttle.

Yes. But there is an affordable option as well. And a few of the shuttles are decently priced depending on how many are in your group. Yes. Do you want to take a shuttle? If you do - open the Google Doc linked in our video description, and scroll all the way down to the bottom, you'll see the company we found with the most affordable shuttle price to Playa Del Carmen - at the time we did price checks it was $125 for a shuttle to Playa del Carmen with the company we have linked there - much cheaper than any of the other companies offering service to PDC when we did our initial research and price checks.

The other option to Playa del Carmen is the ADO Bus. If you subscribe you will soon see a video with more details on it - we will do a series of videos on the ADO bus to both Tulum, and then also to Playa del Carmen in the next few weeks. But in general, the ADO bus is also a great way to get there. The buses are new and very comfortable. The cost from the Tulum Airport to Playa del Carmen's ADO station is less than $20 per person. Again our upcoming videos will walk you more through the details of that, but for now the main thing to note is once you arrive at the Playa del Carmen ADO station, you can easily grab a taxi to your accommodations. Which the cost of the taxi will depend on where you are staying. I am not familiar with all the taxi rates in Playa del Carmen, but I would doubt it cost much more than $30 total - so it would still be the cheapest way to get to and from the new Tulum Airport and your accommodations in the Playa del Carmen area. Or you can do the shuttle I mentioned in the other reply for about $125 (if you book with them in advance) & they do not change their prices anytime soon. I hope that is helpful. Yes… we have a video coming out next week about the ADO bus that goes to Playa del Carmen a couple times a week from the airport. So it just depends on if you’re arriving on a day, they have service or not. I’ll have to double check what days the bus operates again and I’ll let you know. Otherwise look at the information in the attached link. Towards the bottom, I listed the shuttle company with the cheapest rate to Playa Del Carmen.

It's pretty easy to book, even if one does not know Spanish. I'll look up your dates and let you know what I find out about bus schedules on those dates. The cost of the bus is $275 MXN pesos (about $17.50 - 19 USD per person depending on the daily exchange rate).

@@Calehbby2 Did you find the shuttle company I mentioned? If you are leaning towards a shuttle, I would book it ASAP. There are some growing pains/settling in adjustments taking place right now at the brand new airport as companies try to gauge the cost of doing business against demand... and I'm am nervous some companies may raise prices ... so having your reservation locked in could be a good idea IF you are leaning towards taking the shuttle vs the ADO bus. Having said that, the bus is a very easy and very comfortable option as well.

I know… I wish it wasn’t something that even needed to be covered. It’s one of the dark sides of Police culture in Mexico. But reporting it can help. Local TULUM tourism officials are calling it out as well. So reporting it is the best thing we can do to help stop it.

Consider how ridiculous low property tax they charge there, make you wonder how much does local government paying their police men, if civil servants not getting paid enough, local governance may open one eye while shutting other eye away letting their police earn some extra cash on the side. Local are extremely poor they pay very little taxes, local government doesn't have enough funding for anything, just look at their roads, lots speed bump because speed bumps are cheaper than traffic lights, required less tax money to build and run .

@@z32plus2 Yes, I agree their low wages contribute to the problem. Because the police are paid very poorly. And as a place like Tulum continues to grow, more like explode, in popularity and growth (as has happened over and over in other now large popular tourist destinations) the cost of living for the locals sky rockets - but their income does not... so many do turn to trying to overcharge and squeeze extra money from tourist just so they can still squeak by and afford to continue living there

By a roaming seller here or there, working their way up & down the beach… sure. But not all of them have cartel appointments dealers camped out in the bathrooms. There’s a difference. Many beach clubs in Tulum do NOT have cartel dealer in the bathroom. Just the guys out along the beach passing by from time to time.
