you can use aiming pole with anything from mortar to multiple rocket launcher the thing is that the closer the aimimng periscope is to the bore the less you are prone to parallax error so with bigger arty you need to use two poles... here you can see how they are used: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hr-ehK58mbW9l40.htmlsi=okLP04BCiijVXiMA

All the western weapon systems out there are seeking to eliminate human factors as an input. They'd rather spend big money on getting computers to do what they used to teach people to do just as well. Now they don't have to train the soldiers on how to use their equipment and instead can use that training time for all the other bullshit they want you to do like sexual harassment training, and the political policies creeping into western services. Even now the US Army is getting the new XM7 and XM250 small arms that laser range and automatically adjust the reticle in a variable magnification optic - and now the soldier won't have to know the ballistic holds or how to adjust his sight for basic rifle marksmanship. The price of progress....

I never knew it was that easy to find out for yourself. The USGS maps we were given in the Army just simply listed the declination for the given map area.

I can't imagine how much time and money militaries spend on putting these kinds of lessons in what would be regarded as a highly advanced gunnery school only for you to demonstrate and teach it within a few hours for free. I've only received informal training in the US Army from a mortar squad on how to set up sighting stakes and deflection aiming method, but I can tell this is quite masterful work. Well done!

Question: You are standing in an open field and are not quite sure where you are. If you had the artillery piece at the barn, that is the orientation point. Can you then only take one direction towards the enemy from there? I mean, you can see on the map how far it is between the barn and the target. But on closer reflection, it becomes more accurate when you can see the point of Oritering, you can't aim so precisely at an enemy you can't see. Forget my question.

@@gezalesko3813 As I understand it, you don't need to worry about compensating the compass for where Santa lives, because you're only looking for angular relationship. I have never played TV or computer games. Nor can I make such illustrations in the computer as you do. Do I think you're a fifteen year old dude making these illustrations, no I don't. @@gezalesko3813 If the following scenario prevails: the target is 4km away, and your Target Azmuth is 48-05. It turns out that you are 100 meters wrong to the left. Can you then use head count to compensate for the error, or do you have to redo the whole process? I mean if I know that a MILS is one meter at a distance of one km. At 4km, a MILS is then 4 meters. I then compensate 25 MILS and get new Azmuth to 48-30. When you fired the first grenade, you said to the enemy, Hey guys, here I am! In that situation, you want to say thank you for the coffee, and leave.

So you choose an orientation Azmuth as reference (That Tower) then Target Azmuth. You are gauging yourself. What I'm trying to say is: You know in which direction the target is along a line, but you don't know where you are on that line (Vector 1). Then you take out another line (Vector 2) pointing to the tower, and now you know that you are at the intersection of these vectors.

This is an experiment I have not developed range tables yet. Normal ballistics dont work with tanks in Arma for some reason. As a start you can use the T-72 optics by manually setting the distance and measure how much the aiming point needs to be raised from horisontal. Though that works only to 4000 meters.. Anyway if I went into developing this mod into something realistic (azimuth indicator, elevation gauge) that would probably be the T-55 as that tank is a better choice for artillery with its rifled barrel and longer barrel life..

So the aiming circle essentially aims the howitzer for you i assume? 1. Set aiming circle to magnetic north. 2. Zero it to save bearings. 3. With reference to bearing set the aiming circle to desired indirect target with given mills. 3. Save the target angle by zeroing the red angle meter. 4. Since the target angle is saved by the red meter with zero, use the black meter and orient it to the periscope. 5. The new readings on the red meter indicates the periscope, use the new red meter reading on the periscope itself (independently of course) 6. You essentially replicated the arrangements of the aiming circle with the howitzer and all you have to do now is... 7. Orient the barrel until the periscope faces the aiming circle and account for error.

Road/city signs if available can tell you your general area. Then, landmarks to get closer to your specific location -- e.g., look for hills, mountains, notable buildings. If you know what city or town you're in or near, it might be easiest to find a landmark in that city/town and go there, as you will know where you are. For example, say you see a city entrance sign for Zelenogorsk. Rather than find exactly where you are in Zelenogorsk, it might be easier to find something notable in Zelenogorsk on the map (like the train yard). Then, drive to the train yard and you will know where you are firing from. Edit: Or have a GPS system and just get your coordinates directly from that.

@@tmting4942 No!.. Coriolis is not about the shape of the earth rather the rotation. If flat earth rotated it still had coriolis effect..

@@gezalesko3813 I'm just kidding man 😄, I've a general idea about Coriolis effect and is not the same deviation in North & South Hemisphere, and which Latitude you shooting from.. even how it mess with the weather & wind also.. keep it up your Vidz like a visualization of Artys/Mortar FMs (Field Manual)

I think you expect too much if this game though Arma was developed as a milsim. I think it will intercept anything moving at any speed in miles of radius as long as painted with laser...

@@gezalesko3813 you have right but IIRC the boundary from the aim-point where we can still paint target effectively is a circle with 100 m radius (game code), while it's kinda of oval shape along GTL in reality.
