I thought some of those roads looked familiar, then you said Nevada! Belated welcome to my state. I love it here. :) For Tahoe: check out some of the more secluded spots like Chimney Beach or Secret Cove (nudist beach, but you can get to Secret Harbor, Creek Beach, and Whale Beach from there). They're normally pretty empty during the week. Chimney Beach is crazy packed on weekends. All of those beaches take a bit of a hike to get to, so the tourists avoid them. Park along the road near the Secret Harbor Beach Trailhead waypoint on google maps.

Been working with spray paint often for 2 decades. The weird bubble/wrinkling was because your bottom layers weren't fully cured yet. Spray paint cures slower in humid environments. You should get all your base paint layers down during the open time of the paint. For the next layers (the stripes) you want to put your nose up to the base paint (literally touch your nose to the surface) and smell for fumes. If you can still smell the paint, it is not cured yet. I will often leave things to cure for a week or more before doing detailing like that. Alternatively, you can take a hairdryer to the paint to help it cure faster since paint curing is simply a matter of air movement, heat, and air moisture. Hairdryers blow hot dry air, so you can cut curing time down considerably. Just make sure you at least wait for the paint to no longer be tacky so you don't blow dust into the paint.

You are doing an outstanding job on that houseboat. Compound miter cuts are hard to do but you make them look easy. Many boat shops have what is called a "moaning chair" a place to sit and go 'what did I do'?? Seems you don't need one of them. LOL

A Real professional at woodworking will use whatever tool they're most comfortable and able to get the best results with. doesn't matter what tools you use. what works the best for you, IS the best tool you can use. but yes. any High-speed tool being used. should generally be used (not slow per se) at a decent and steady movement. mostly to make sure you're accurate and to prevent Blow-out of the wood you're using. the harder the wood the slower you generally need to move the tool along. but the same can easily be true for very soft woods as well. Depends on the tool & material it's used on. so don't give yourself a hard time for using any tool you have to do a job. whatever works for you, works for you. Just be safe, measure twice(Or more), Cut once and be aware of where your hands, Fingers and generally limb locations are in relation to the tools used ^^ Keep at it and don't worry about what anyone here thinks. if we see something we might be able to show you a better way of doing, we'll speak up, and if you wanna try it, try it, if you don't, don't. this is a very nice and chill video-series to watch along with. and some of us might even learn some things we're doing poorly and fix it because of this ^^ I would like to say tho. for the next project, if it doesn't sound like the worst or most costly idea out there, Buy yourself a Bandsaw, be it a portable on you can mount or a full-size one. either way. something that is stationary with a plate you can put the pieces of wood you need to cut on a Flat surface where you can move the piece and not the tool. Might help you make some of the cuts you gotta do more safely aswell as easily. just throwing that out there tho ^^

Really enjoying the channel and the way you approach each element of the build. I think that once you have finished the boat, you will be contemplating the next project because you are challenging yourself at every point and you wilbe needing more. I wouldnt be suprised if you already contemplating on what you want to do next after a few months on the water. Love the channel very much and your determination is infectious. stay safe J.

Loving this project. There’s a clamp that holds pieces of wood or other material at 90°. It may be useful or after the fact but in the event that it could be useful, they’re inexpensive. It is great especially when working alone.

Emma, sometimes you can bring nice, straight lumber home from the lumber yard, and it will turn wonky while it sits in your shop waiting to be used. This happens because lumber yards are selling lumber too moist. When you get it home, it dries very quickly in our dry Rocky Mountain air, which is far drier than the moist air on the coast where the lumber is milled. To avoid this warping, you need to store your lumber in a way that keeps it flat, and then place heavy stuff on top of it to hold it flat while it dries. If you allow it to dry without being held firmly and flat, it will warp as it slowly dries. It can also continue to warp after you've cut it and assembled it as part of your boat. The longer you keep it flat and let it dry before you use it, the less it will warp in place in your project.

It’s “blowing out” as you call it because you’re cutting against the grain of the wood. Stroke the edge of the wood and you will be able to feel the direction of the grain. That’s the direction you should always cut. Then you won’t get the wood splitting or “blowing out”.
