How do you get in to config mode

My setup is a 750xi, dual G3X, G5, 307 AP, 245 radio, Bose A20 headsets. I can adjust the volume with the G3X, but the radio volume knob does nothing. For some reason, the volume always seems to be about right, but it’s unsettling to have to sort through the screen just to fine-tune it. How can I get the good ole-fashioned knob to work?

I’ve been to FL250 with my 915 on 91 non oxy fuel with no issues and indicating 53 psi on only the main pump. Granted it’s a HW with a belly tank which feeds the 915. Not sure what psi would be considered low enough to worry about issues?
@MidwestPanels
@MidwestPanels 12 күн бұрын
A high wing with a header tank will have less of an issue with this for sure since you have gravity acting on the system. The pressure before the main pump is what most will never see since nobody monitors this and there will never be an issue after the pump if it is being supplied with a good amount of non vaporized fuel. Not every flight will produce a problem since the proper conditions may not always be there but we have seen several situations where the engines have either run very poorly or stop all together.

53 PSI seems a bit high by the way, you might want to look into that.

@@MidwestPanelshmmm it’s always been 51-55psi at cruise power depending on altitude. 600 hours like that without issue. Wonder why? I just checked with others who have a 915 S21 like mine and they’re around 46psi which aligns with what Rotax says 42-46….

@@MidwestPanels I just spoke to Rans. My sensor is located at the fuel valve bypass block. Their newer installs have it on the pressure rail, where Rotax wants it. The kit for this mounting option wasn’t available when mine was built. Also, I have a Kavlico sensor, which I don’t believe compensates for MAP like the Rotax sensor. They say consistency is the most important thing and since my pressure never fluctuates that that’s my normal and not to worry🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyways I appreciate what you guys do for this category and the Rotax community and for pointing out my fuel pressure so I could educate myself better.

My question is, why would anyone want to risk it? The booster pumps are not that much compared to what could happen besides they reduced wear on the engine pumps and gives you a much better safety buffer.

My RV-10 has a G3X PFD & MFD as well as a G5. Being IFR my aircraft is equiped with a 20amp B&C backup alternator & 6ah TCW Ibbs. At present with my Master switch off & the avionics running on the 6ah battery my VPX-Pro is off line. It leaves me with only the PFD running. No coms, no transponder, no AP, no trim or flap indication…. Is it feasible/ reasonable to have the VPX also able to be powered off the TCW? I could then continue to use it for controlled load shedding. Maybe have a panel circuit breaker for the VPX so that it could be pulled as a last resort. However I would still have the G5 as a last last resort!

Yes the ACS and other documents since this video was shot allows for the LPV to be used as a precision approach, I called my local FSDO a couple months ago to get their latest opinion and they had pointed out a section in Appendix 7 that clearly referenced ground based navigation was still needed, however I recently looked again and could no longer see that reference so I plan to call again to confirm that the GNX 375 can now be used for the check ride.

Beyond having gravity on your side, looking at the plans it would appear they will have a boost pump possibly pressurizing and pushing fuel into the header tank so in theory it should do the job but we do not have any test data on this yet.

Please please please please contact Garmin and ask them if they can add a feature to the G3X where you can tell it which tank you are on based on this sensor so that the fuel remaining shows specific tanks. I know that it might not matter in your installation since the sensor goes to your controller, but I have a lycoming so that doesn't matter to me.
@akschu1
@akschu1 3 ай бұрын
Hmmm, seems like the pump failing would require you to switch to the other tank and service as soon as possible as the stock system is probably a lot more prone to vapor lock with the extra pump, filter, and elevation you need to draw the fuel through.... I suspect the controller figures this out and tells you given the sensor.
@MidwestPanels
@MidwestPanels 3 ай бұрын
If what you are talking is that the boost pump failing would cause it to be more prone to vapor lock due to restriction, the answer is no more than it not being there at all. Our testing found that the feed line vacuum was not affected by the pump being there vs not being there. The default is open, full flow, it's a plunger type pump with no vanes to restrict flow.

@MidwestPanels
@MidwestPanels 3 ай бұрын
The Gad 27 is a different box and has great function. Being a Kitfox you may or may not want to use it since you are manual flaps and usually trim is one switch in the center. The GAD 27 does give extra discrete inputs if you like to have different alerts and it also has useful lighting busses for dimming equipment or cockpit lighting.

Thanks for watching, another viewer mentioned the same thing as you have in this comment so I set out to find the answer and will be posting a follow up video to this. What we found is that the bulletin you are referring to did allow LPV to be counted as a precision approach which was one of the hang ups in the discussion but when I called my local FISDO to discuss the topic, they had a another item they pointed out that would still keep their opinion on the side of not allowing it for a check ride, we will show this in the update video.
