Okay I get lost, so I love Objective Markers ONLY when it's large locations. And especially useful as my ADHD tends to act up and I may leave a game for a REAL long period! So it's nice to be able to come back later and not be confused, I like it also when I can turn them off at will as well for REPEAT runs when memory is fresh in my mind for a challenge Part of me really wished they added a secret game over to the final boss with a time limit like in the Original where if you took too long, Shodan would seize your body, except unlike the Original where you were kicked back to the title screen after seeing her face FULLY! You'd get a unique bad ending!! But oh well! Happy at what we got, MUCH better and happy when developers TAKE ADVANTAGE of the newer tech they have that they can use Patches and DLC to FIX the mistakes that the players HATE and they need fixing! That's nice of them Female Hacker is WEIRD....I'm playing HER from now on LOL

The lack of a quick save option was the biggest dealbreaker for why I didn't get the Dark Forces remaster, despite the cutscenes and enhanced sprites looking great. That was always my biggest gripe with the base game and The Force Engine adding that feature was a godsend. Everything else was something I also liked, like resolution scaling, but the quicksave feature was paramount. I wonder if it's possible to just extract the enhanced sprites and cutscenes and integrate them into the Force Engine. If so, then that would genuinely make the Remaster pointless outside of convenience.
@BenKii10 күн бұрын
@@gameragodzilla 100 percent agree with you on that. Some of those levels are not forgiving and to have that save feature in the force engine was great. I thought about trying to extract the remaster's textures but couldn't figure it out. I'd heard that the maker of force engine was working on his own texture pack to be used as a mod in the game. Fingers crossed we see it soon.
@gameragodzilla10 күн бұрын
@@BenKii If the maker does create them, then the Force Engine will be the definitive way to play. I do still respect Nightdive, but adding this feature puts the Force Engine over for me. Save states are also why I still prefer playing Bounty Hunter via Dolphin emulator rather than the Aspyr remaster on PC. A lot of the annoying sections are less annoying with quicksaves.

Loved this game as a child, even though I sucked and it took me forever to progress. But the live action scenes, everything being over the top (the acting, the klingon chorus constantly screaming in the main menu) and the complexity of ship combat made me love it. At the end I was mostly content with duking it out in the ship simulator. Interestingly enough, by choosing the battlecruisers of the oh so peaceful federation one could curbstomp entire fleets, although I think they were never encountered in the story mode proper.

6:49 Now I am picturing an episode of TNG where they just bumble through a mission, screw everything up, and just shrug circle fade at the camera before the iconic credits music plays.

I love the mission variety in this game and how huge it makes space feel. I would argue that is an important thing to get across in an exploration-based franchise. Did you ever make use of Troi's empathic powers on Morassia?

The thing I remember about this game is the first away mission being super polished with many different solutions and paths to complete it. You could bring different combinations of people on the mission that would have different voice lines in reaction to the same situation and sometimes offer different solutions. It had soft and hard failure states. But after that, every away mission is way more more linear with little repeatability. The devs obviously realized that level of polish was impossible to maintain. A shame really.

Nice review - I like listening to you even if the game feels a bit dated to me. :) And you've come a long way when your own voice audio balance is better than the game's of voices vs. the music and sound effects (everything but the voices was comparatively too loud for me in the gameplay showcases). P.S. I gave the wishlist entry my vote. Just because I wouldn't play it, that doesn't mean the fans shouldn't get to. :)

It wasn’t bad, no Kingdom Hearts game is “bad.” But it was just such questionable decisions every time like why not have Final Fantasy Characters! Why not show more Final Fantasy worlds? Why are we watching complete retelling of stories already told, why can’t we have a solid conclusion (on release) it was just puzzling decision upon puzzling decision. I don’t understand even now.
