I ended up doing something similar to your ADM UIC, except I used an ACRO P2 on top of a Reptilia mount holding an LPVO so as not to compromise daytime usage. Sure, it could shave about a pound if I got rid of the NX8, but would be limited much more in daytime than 1# over the magwell limits me. Still gives an elevated night vision capable RDS.

Solid setup for sure

I know 1st Gen night vision is heavy and crap, but the PVS-5s and 7s look cool! Price sucks and I just want the surplus at surplus prices.

Don't buy an AR-15. It was developed in the 1950s. Don't shoot an M1911. It's a 20th-century antique. Don't shoot 45-70 Springfield. It's from the 1800s. Don't use gunpowder based weapons. They came from ancient China.

PVS-7s are from the 80s so they're ancient. I suppose we should abandon the AR platform too.
@atacorion2 ай бұрын
And the AR platform has evolved in too many ways to count since the 80's so that it wasnt abandoned. The PVS-7 hasn't. So nice try with an apples to oranges argument that really makes you look educated on this topic.

Interesting take, where most of your points are wrong lol. 1- yes it’s 2021(4 now), when I was in Iraq in 2006-08 we used M2 50’s on our trucks that were made in WW2. Age doesn’t inherently make something bad or outdated. 2- I don’t think most people care about swapping out tubes. Never crossed my mind. My Tacoma’s engine is proprietary, doesn’t bother me because I wouldn’t swap it out. 3- yes, a biocular isn’t a monocular or binocular. Plenty of other things it isn’t too. 4- most valid point you have, not sure it’s a deal breaker level issue for most. 5- I picked mine up for $1200 used. There’s nothing of this quality level for anywhere near that price. If you have a bigger budget then sure buy better, but not everyone can afford or needs to buy a new Ferrari. Doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to drive.
@atacorion4 ай бұрын
Couple of counterpoints to your argument There isn't an M3 HMG that makes the M2 obsolete, so you're stuck with the M2, there are a lot of PVS systems that have made the -7 obsolete. You were issued the gear you used, this is for folks buying into NV, so you missed one of the points I was trying to make entirely. Its not about swapping tubes into a -7, its about swapping the tube into a newer better more modern housing which a lot of people do with 11769 and 10160 tubes these days. Again you missed the point because you probably don't have as much understanding about NV as I do, based on working in and around this industry for a decade now. Your Tacoma's engine is the same engine as the 4runner and some models of the Camry. Again, I am speaking about buying a new PVS-7 not a new one but for $500-1000 more than what you paid, you're in PVS-14 territory and the -14 absolutely destroys the -7 in every way. Given the small price difference save up more money for a little while longer. IF you like the -7 keep the -7, but the people I see with -7's after only a 2-night NV class offload their -7's shortly thereafter. People who use their gear understand this, people who were issued and used it 20 years ago and don't know any better don't. The -7 is the 1911 of NV.
@BamaPewPew4 ай бұрын
@@atacorion lol I carry a 1911 at times too. I’m not going to re say each point, but to be pedantic there’s no Camry with a 4.0 V-6. You say $1k more as if that isn’t TWICE the cost. The average user isn’t changing their tubes into new housings, or kicking in doors for that matter. I suppose you’d rather people have nothing, but there’s value in the PVS-7. So long as they still turn on they always will have value, btw I could care less if you have ten years of experience, any argument to authority is a weak argument. “I’ve been doing this for years” means I should be quiet because the pro is talking, which is for people like Fauci, not the 2a community. There’s a huge market for people who don’t want to spend used car money on, let’s be real here, a toy they will never actually need.

Even after watching tons of Chad's videos, after taking a class, there was still such a plethora of information I gained. Its worth it even to someone not looking to be a gunsmith so that you at least understand your weapon system better. So many of us speak in absolutes on the internet, Chad's information has proved to me that no company is immune to problems, while simultaneously, proving to you why you should be looking to companies with better reputations.
