Can the 2t give me enough power to over take big rigs and buses going 60 to 80 km per hour comfortably? A lot of roads where im from are just 2 lanes but a lot of truckers and buses are on it. I found a junked corolla ke35. Planning to make a daily driver but its my first project car and i dont know much about engines.

The 351c V8 have 1.65 or 1.76 rod ratio opions with factory rods. for 7000 rpm with 11 to 1 compression. In a street car, I'm concerned about side affects with a longer rod dwell. What would you recommend. .
@JWorldAdventures
@JWorldAdventures 19 күн бұрын
Hello! And thanks for the question. No I see no issues with your setup, if anything with an 11 to 1 compression ratio you shouldn't lose much bottom end. Plus with the longer rod to stroke ratio, you should be able to get a benefit of less cylinder bore wear.

@@JWorldAdventures Thanks for responding. Yes the shorter rod will give me shorter legs, so the longer rod will give me longer legs, and gives me a chance to upgrade the piston skirt and ring technology like you said. I think your are spot on. Mike

Yes, it's very possible to do a similar build! Although as these engines are very old now some parts are hard to come by, but not impossible. I would highly suggest getting the block and head pressure tested, hardness tested, and sonic tested(to determine how far you can safely bore out the cylinders) but if you're just going for a standard oversized piston there should be no issues whatsoever even if you ought not to do the sonic testing. I hope I was able to help you out.

1:20 The FJ24 definitely was used in Group B, in the 240RS, however, it was not successful as one of the few naturally aspirated 2wd cars left. Nissan actual led the Safari rally with the 240RS one year, but all three entries failed to finish after cylinder head related issues. Toyota came the following year with the 'Whistling Pig' Celica Turbo and they cleaned up 👍

@JWorldAdventures
@JWorldAdventures Ай бұрын
Hey there Ken! Thank you for the question. And in answering your question, You can get any transmitter that fits your budget. But even though it might not be of concern, I do highly suggest making sure the charging system is in good condition, because the 5k engine's alternator is only known to output 60 Amps and if it's not in good conditon, along with your wiring, it can cause a voltage drop issue that you may have not experienced before getting the transmitter.

I just purchased a Cressida, only for the engine. The starter is missing. I have this number: 28100-15040 Its a gear reduction type, that seems to match up with an 80's Corolla. Can anyone advise please? Corolla is 400 each cylinder, and 1G 333. So going by that, a Corolla starter, as long as it fits, should work.
@JWorldAdventures

It's should work as most starters from that time period are interchangeable with one another. I hope I was able to help you out. And if you can't find 28100-15040 I suggest getting 28100-15070 as that was the new part number for the application. And 28100-15040 has long been discontinued.

Hi great video and channel, im thinking of making a similar engine build. If i upgrade the camshaft for a 280 degrees one do i need to change the valves and springs? and is there any risc of the valves colide with the pistons? thank you.
@JWorldAdventures
@JWorldAdventures 4 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words!! Regarding your question, You should upgrade your valve springs in order to prevent valve float with the extra lift and duration that the cam will provide. And as for piston to valve contact, I suggest checking it during assembly, because the deck on your block could have been serviced once or twice during its life, so I suggest checking the piston to valve clearance. And if needed running a 1.4 or even a 2mm head gasket. I hope I was able to help you out.

Also a tidbit: The Schräglenker for 33-32-2-222-23X is given as 11deg, not 12. The Group A arm in the video is likely a fake reproduction on a repro subframe, not the real thing.

The biggest issue that semi-trailing arms have is tremendous elastokinematic toe deflection, toe-out from cornering and braking namely. The second biggest is tremendous anti-lift geometry, which causes instability during braking, although is good for body control. Roll centers also tend to be high and many designs due to being so trailing (duh) have a trend of increasing roll center with decreased ride height, which can lead to very unbalanced jacking in some racecars which can't attain more optimal geometry but have been lowered a lot.
@ArchOfficial
@ArchOfficial 6 ай бұрын
A higher RC will increase the LLTD on that axle and decrease grip, but roll less. Around 2min you seem to insinuate that higher RC = less roll = less LLTD, which...no.
@ArchOfficial
@ArchOfficial 6 ай бұрын
EDIT: Disregard, pretty sure I just had dud data. It was some nonsense about the DTM arm based on an inaccurate drawing. I have however since then found out that minimizing antisquat/antilift (Negative as well, not only positive) and obviously lowering roll center height are the key things for better bump handling. The outer joint height adjuster on later cars achieves both at the same time in addition to adding -ve camber.

Am curious if there's more info on the All Japan Rally EP71? Sounds like a really underated/hidden car! Should be based on the Group A series starlet racers right? Was it only one particular car made? Or did they made a few dual carb spec for the world rally races?
@JWorldAdventures
@JWorldAdventures 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. And yeah it's really underrated as a Motorsports vehicle. It's different from the group A cars, even though it fits in the time frame. Mainly back then the All Japan Rally championship had their own rulebook, but nowadays they do comply with FIA regulations. Regarding the Starlet; the late Sakurai San of TRD was the project lead for the EP71, and he had developed it with dual carburetors, a one off camshaft, bespoke exhaust, and engine internals. There was one more car that they developed for dirt trails, and was equipped with a turbocharged version of the 2E engine being the 2E-TELU. It produced at the time just about 200HP in racing trim. I hope I was able to answer your question. Have a good one 👍 😊

@aksdan7783 7 ай бұрын
Yes a turbo doesn’t require you to change much, first start with the throttle body mod, make sure the timing belt is serviced completely. Turbo the engine 7-10 psi on stock internals. You will see 220-300hp
@aksdan7783
