I had to check my McDonald’s App. Couldn’t find just a Big Mac meal as there are meal deals at the moment, but here in Germany a big Mac meal AND 6 Nuggets is €9.99 or a two Big Mac menu for €10.99. So yes, pretty much a Mega rip off deal is what you are getting there.

I am 62 years old Canadian from Turkish descent from my mother’s side. and will never retire in any country but Canada. It is nice to visit Turkey and see the beauty of Turkey . My life is settled in Canada but when I retire in about five years, I like to spend at least three months every year in Turkey, especially in the south of Turkey.

Hi Mick and Trudie, I'm planning a visit to Istanbul later this year around August and stumbled upon your wee production. Well done. Love the way you get straight to the point and don't carry on about things not relevant to the topic. no silly loud music...Turkey! So many things I could say. Two things. I'm a seasoned traveller and usually frequent large cities on my Brompton folding bike. I avoid taxi's can fold and put in a wheelie bag etc, super convenient. Someone mentioned, in another vlog that bikes aren't very popular, particularly in Istanbul and Cars will show little care or sympathy. What do you think? Lastly the dogs! Living in rural areas in SE Asian Countries, as a runner and a rider my trick is to never try and run away. It's;99% bluff and if they think they've got you they might take a nip. I will always stop, shape to either pick up a real stone or an imaginary one and shape to throw. They always scatter. They'll have a second dip at you whereby I'll rinse and repeat. I'm 65 now, have been travelling for 35 years and have never been bitten or even nearly bitten. Don't display fear. Cheers, and keep up the good work. Oh, lastly, this is a bit cheeky but could you recommend an area around Istanbul on either side, Asian or European, to settle in the first week or so... Cheers. Even a specific place, air bnb or lodge, bnbreakfast etc.

Excellent job for giving the right information about when the city was named Istanbul. This wrong information has been going around forever (even by the well-known TV channels, universities and institutions), that the city was conquered and renamed in 1453 by the Ottomans. In fact the city was mainly called "Konstantiniye" by the Ottomans until it was finally renamed in the era of Republic of Turkey in 1930 (as you mentioned). Etymology of the name "Istanbul" is another story. Great job guys...
@mickandtrudie2 күн бұрын
Thank you for restoring my confidence in Wikipedia which I use a lot for information, From what I’ve read the name Istanbul was originally a derivative of what the Greeks called Constantinople, maybe you could confirm that 🤠🙏
@s.tancaglar3806Күн бұрын
@@mickandtrudie Etymologicaly speaking the name Istanbul is derived from the Classical Greek phrase "eis ten polin" or " stin poli" which can be translated as "to the City". Constantinople was considered as "the city" especially during the Eastern Roman era. The name Istanbul is the Turkified version of this old phrase so to say. There were other names used to refer the city in the Ottoman era which were also derived from the same phrase as Islambol, Istambol etc. However "Konstantiniye" was the official name of the city.

The only solution which i learned in Pakistan is Earn in dollars or Pounds or Euros. I visited 2022 Antalya koonyalti and i was living like because of earning in dollars . I got Antalya TRC then move to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and it's still quite cheap Living in any asian countries and family of 6, you need 2-3k$ And if you are couple then you need $1200-1500. Turkey and Malaysia is still you can live but turkey is expensive nowadays NOT FOR me but for other people

I was born in Konya's first apartment building, called the Hayat Apt. in 1937 and lived there until 1954. I've not been able to visit the city since then. I ended up moving to U.S. almost 60 years ago. Amazingly enough in one section of the video I was able to see the Hayat Apt. behind you, facing the Alaaddin Hill. While watching the video it was really hard not to cry. When I was growing up in Konya it had a population of 60 thousand. We kids spent the summer days mostly at Alaaddin Hill. Every morning we walked to the High School near the Ataturk monument. In those days a family could not afford to buy you a bicycle. We could only rent it for the hour and ride it to Ataturk Monument. Since the only pawed road was around the Monument. There were no taxis. But you could hire a horse carriage to travel longer distances in the city. We also enjoyed riding to Meram and alone the way we could climb up the fruit trees and enjoyed eating them. Along with your many videos involving other Turkish cities, this one especially is such a lovely one. Thanks so much.
