Simply put the more expensive scope allows one to use a greater amount of magnification. The cheaper scope may be 20x to 60x but it is probably not going to be usable past 30x.

So I've been shooting for 20 years. Last year I started to shoot with my feet at a 90 degree angle and my shot placement wasn't great. I'm no Robin hood but I'm confident. Till i did my goofy stance. I changed it what you're doing and now I just shot the grouping I'm used to. Tight and patterned. Within 3" Thank you for this video! Don't know why I did this goofy stance just started happenin??

Funny thing is as fucked up, and Retarded as buck was acting, the deer still looks like a genius compared to the guy hunting

Buck is sick. The thing it was doing with its tail and back legs is a sign of stress.

Thanks for the review just had one question. Most carbon shafts I thought were spine aligned. Did you take that into consideration when fletching the arrow?

First off, congratulations on a beautiful buck. I'm sorry I just happened upon this thread last night, so I'm several YEARS too late. But I thought I should add to this as it's not very common knowledge. First, let me quickly introduce myself so as to add some credibility. First, I'm an old guy who will be 80 in a few months. I'm also a resident of Iowa and have been for the last 25 years. I'm also a fanatical purist traditional whitetail bowhunter. My inquisitive nature, and the fact I've been studying whitetails for so long, has given me the opportunities to see a lot of things many fellow hunters have not seen simply via a longevity saturation factor. What I'm about to tell you will obviously raise some eyebrows, but please hear me out. Your deer did not have EHD, nor CWD. He was perfectly normal. The fact is he was masturbating. Hear me out. Yes, whitetails masturbate, just like elk, bear, leg-humping dogs and other critters. I've witnessed them doing it at least five times now. And I've videotaped it three of those five times. All five occurrences were in late October or mid-November approaching or during the peak of the whitetail rut. It's my opinion we see it more commonly before the peak of the rut when the bucks are ready, and the does may not be quite ready yet. It's simply sexual frustration and anxiety. Similar to human teenage boys, most of the bucks I've witnessed masturbating have been 1.5 to 2.5 years old. Although one was a beautiful 4.5-year-old that was pushing 160 inches. In all five of my witnessed accounts the bucks were traveling alone and at or close to scrapes. The procedure is almost identical. They start by lifting their tails horizontally and flipping them. Then they severely hump/ flex their spine/back which brings the pelvis and penis forward. The penis is actually inserted into the little "pocket" formed at the base of the sternum/ribcage on the buck's belly. I've also witnessed two of the five bucks rub-urinate on their hock glands just prior to masturbating. They will bring their tarsal (hock) glands on the inside of the hind legs together, rub them together while letting the glandular secretions mixed with the urine run down the inside of the back legs. That's why some tarsal glands are much darker and aromatic than others. At any rate, in your footage before your shot you can see this ritual can last for an extended time. Breaking down your footage: 6:02- the buck is fine, chewing his cud 6:04- A coon walks up to within feet of him. He acknowledges it and the coon leaves 7:11- the buck starts arching, flexing his spine and pelvis 7:43- he starts the tail flipping 7:48- flexes spine more 8:16- he licks his nose to moisten the orifice so he can pick up any new scents. A deer lives and dies by messages received via his nose. A moist nose will pick up scent molecules in the air much better than a dry nose... thus the licking. 8:24 thru 9:13 he's masturbating/ ejaculating 9:21- more nose licking 10:26- the first shot. He's still humping at the first shot. I hope this clears up what you taped. I wrote another book last year on my whitetail hunting strategies/techniques titled, "The Old Man and the Tree." In it I wrote several pages about whitetails masturbating. I have to admit I did not read ALL the 662 comments listed here, but I doubt anyone mentioned he was masturbating. I'm sure many hunters have also witnessed bucks in the act but just didn't realize what they were seeing. As I mentioned, I'm not very good with computers but if you send me your email address Trevor, I'll forward you some photos of a buck "doing it." Barry Wensel at [email protected]. And, again, congratulations on a very nice buck. BW

There is so much wrong with this video I don't even know where to begin. The color fringing or chromatic abbreviations is horrible in the cheap scope, that's what all the purple edges are on everything. And just because they look the same does not mean they are the same. It's the internals that counts, the outer shell means nothing. The Vortex is vastly superior. You two know virtually NOTHING about optics.

You should do a test in low light conditions, thats when quality optics pay off, in this test the differnece is clear, but for the price svbony may have sold me a scope. I wish vortex made the same budget scopes as binoculars.

That cheaper scope completely distorted the image. They cloned the case and put shitty glass in it. I can’t imagine how bad it would be in low light or fog.

This was a great help for me. I'm from GA, and because of my job, I've traveled all across the US but never hunted the areas I've been. Missed a lot of hunting seasons bc of it. I'm planning a trip to Colorado for an archery mule deer hunt for my first time ever. I'm looking at unit 20 bc the tag opportunity. Idk can't find anyone who wants to give advice. I can completely understand why. You guys do a great job of showing what it takes. Seeing you guys make me think I may need to find someone to go with instead of soloing it. Thanks

All industries are the same when it comes to marketing. Firearms is even worse with the " new, exciting" caliber that really works no better than the older ones. They need to sell stuff, so small changes are hyped up so people will think that they are left behind if they don't get something new every year. Unfortunately this also leads to silly and worthless luxery add-on to stuff (especially automobiles) That most have no real use for and only causes complications. Personally, i feel that if you are using anything more advanced than a recurve bow, you are not a bowhunter. But whatever.

Start your burn downwind and burn towards the wind. This makes the fire burn slower because it's burning against the wind which burns more weeds instead of just burning the top vegetation. Burning against the wind is also safer and helps control the fire. .
