On 0:57 *Jack Larson said* that this takeoff is *the last time George Reeves used wires* because when George flew out of the picture *he fell 10ft on the ground* and because of that he said "that's enough of that!" and on *later episodes some takeoff scenes had been recycled* and on season 2 i believe they *use springboards* to takeoff and fly and here are some examples: 1:11 and 1:20 look at Superman's foot when he jumps.

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane.....NO! It's Superman. And who, disguised as clark kent, mild-mannered reporter for a daily metropolitan newspaper, fights a neverending battle for truth, justice, and the American way.

The three takeoffs starting at 0:27 are from the first season which used wires on a crane. You can clearly identify stunt doubles, but as most of us George Reeves fans know, George was on wires when they broke causing him to have a nasty fall. After that, the springboard was used

A lot was made of the flying effects in the superman movies with Christopher Reeves but the flying effects here are surprisingly just as good if not better

If George had lived on he would’ve seen how many fans still loved his TV shows ,who knows we might of seen a pair up in a 66 Batman show or two ,and later met w Christopher Reeve the possibility’s that might had happened. I still remember hearing the opening me sitting in front of the TV set wearing my mom’s kitchen apron.

By the grace of god, I'm an Octogenarian! I find it hard to believe, but it's true. I grew up on these TV shows (reruns, obviously). I remember the newspaper headline "Superman commits suicide". These shows are so unimaginably corny, but they shaped a generation. Superman was a model we kids aspired to be, and it would be years before we kids got another Superman, a super Superman in 1978 when Chris came onto the screen. I was in my late 20s, and I was a grinning kid again! Today, early in the 21st Century, America needs another superhero. We need Superman. I hope we get him very soon.

I think "Adventures of Superman" was the first major TV series to be filmed in color, at a time when less than 10% of homes had color TV yet. Did they expect the show to run successfully in reruns years into the future?

Although Superman never actually killed anyone in the series, two of his adversaries did die on air. After they discovered his secret identity, he flew them to a snowy mountaintop until he could figure out what to do with them. Thinking he'd never come back, they attempted to climb down on their own and fell to their deaths.

You did a great job on this compilation & the B&W ones David but you left one GREAT landing out. The superb landing Superman made through Lucille Ball's kitchen into the living room during little Ricky's birthday in episode 166 of "I Love Lucy." That was a great landing too.

I love how George just "sticks" the landings almost all the time without another step. I realize of course if he stumbled or was off balance they'd do another take. But most of the time he nails it! That very first landing on the deck of the "ship" was a perfect example.
