i dont remember when i bought my Naga but its been with me for a long time! Just changed the switches and it feels like new! I've had an issue that when i bring it on vacation and its not plugged in it wont work for a while so i guess the traces are not 100% anymore but i hope it will last for many years to come. love it!

What desoldering gun do you use? I'm trying to find a good one that isn't $300 like the hakko one And one thing to watch out for on those replacement shells, if you have the model with the sound module, you have to make sure to get a case that says it works for the shvc. Couple questions: 1) What temperature do you set your iron to? 2) You had painted over the traces after using the fibreglass brush. What about the other bare metal parts that were brushed up? At 8:15 you pointed at one part you brushed up. Would that ever rust back up?
@PunkNDisorderlyGamer
@PunkNDisorderlyGamer 10 күн бұрын
@@MaccAttacc 1. 300-325 Celsius. 2. I suppose it could rust again but that part of the cart connector was already exposed metal. If rust and corrosion eats a trace, especially under a chip is a bigger problem than if rust sits on a ground plane of a motherboard. The idea is to not allow these consoles to get exposed to moisture or water going forward. It’s pretty common to neglect tech when it’s reaching its phasing out period, but consoles in general tend to have a rebirth cycle where they become collectors items and collectors will hopefully take care of them going into the future. Hope this helps.

Was a fun video to watch. It is always pretty funny when you spend time swapping and re-flowing chips just for it to be a second cleaning that actually gets you somewhere. I am not a big fan of after market shells, but this looks nice for what it is. I'd sell it if I were you, there is a lot of people paying a lot for these 1 chip consoles and most people watching your stuff are probably already into repairs and things enough to either do that new voultar edge enhancement mod for the 2 chips or already own a 1 chip. If you did give it away, I'd be sure to enter though. I have been watching your channel for years would be cool to have something you worked on.

Those shells last pretty good. I've had a smoke gray one on my every day SNES for over 2 years now and it still looks good and is holding up well. PS: those RF shields were from back in the day when a lot of people depended on rabbit ear TV antennas. Video game consoles tended to interfere with them. Besides, nobody uses the RF anymore. PSS: Use Wndex to wipe the shell down next time. It does a better job.
