Thank you for the helpful hints in that. Think I'll have a look at what's available for keeping a food journal. Obviously different peoples circumstances vary and I've got both pros and cons from living where I do now (ie I moved from a southern English city to a small West Welsh town). Plus side (well - from the pov of dieting = there are very few opportunities to do the eating out I'm used to and so fewer calories that way). Down side = the weather is worse than I'm used to (colder/greyer/lots more rain) and so it's harder to exercise by going out for a walk (but I have bought a treadmill - so that when I look out the window in despair at another wet Welsh day I've got the option of using a treadmill instead). Muscles - I get the point - as I'm not a sporty type, but am conscious I need to get my leg and arm muscles back to normal (as they seem to have weakened with age - now I'm in my 70's). So yep...a variety of ideas to think on there and I've gone a LONG way towards being familiar with vegan foods, but still learning the most basic little things about how to use them. I've got the disadvantage of being short too - but I have to be firm with myself, if only because I've got 3 clothes racks of clothes in my little house - real size 14, real size 16, real size 18 and I need to get back to real size 14 (currently labelled as being "size 10" for my bottom half and "size 12" for my top half - under modern-day vanity sizing). I need to be able to get back to real 14 - so I can get rid of many of the clothes I have at the moment. Thankfully too I can/do use clothing as one way to tell what size I am - and so I do have a swimsuit from many years back that is in real size 14 and some other ages old "real size" clothes. So I can try on my older clothes to get an idea of how overweight I currently am. It's hard to keep willpower going when absolutely no-one agrees with me that I'm overweight - as they've got used to most people being overweight and they probably are themselves - but I remember a clothes shopping expedition for a friend back in the early 1970s and it had never occurred to me that British clothing of the era was never made in sizes bigger than real size 16 (current label sizes would be label size 12 to label size 14 iyswim). So I remind myself that bigger sizes were literally impossible to get back then (as women weren't expected to be bigger than that) and then check out beach videos from the 1970s to remember what people's figures used to be like and that's a tip for older women like myself to help us stay disciplined. So I tell myself I can't get my looks back at my age - but I should be able to get my figure back.

Thank you for your lovely comment Eliza. The hardest thing with dieting in the psychological aspect of it, staying consistent with all the addictive foods out there. But you don’t have to be perfect, just try your best and slowly the weight will go down. I have months when I’m not very consistent and I might even gain a couple of pounds back. But then I go back on the diet and I lose those pounds and overall the weight goes down, even though it might seem like it’s a never ending battle. One day we’ll wake up and we’ll be where we want to be. The important thing is not to give up and to enjoy the journey. You don’t want to feel deprived, you want to be excited about all the new flavours and how good you will feel. And it’s all about our health and how we feel. So don’t give up and keep going and celebrate the little steps towards the right direction ❤️

@@ninasarri Now if only I could think of other ways to "treat" myself besides food (and alcohol). I've long thought "Well at least food is a reliable treat and alcohol can temporarily knock my mind out of running round in circles. That's two reliable things I can use". But, of course, one can't any longer if trying to sort out one's figure (and one's health).

I was losing about a pound to two pounds per week at the time of the video. It all depends on the portion sizes and how much weight you have to lose. With rheumatoid arthrities nightshades are causing inflammation. Are they? When I remove these, what is the alternative for making sauces?
@ninasarri
@ninasarri 2 ай бұрын
Nightshades can cause inflammation in the body but not necessarily. I guess it’s best to do an elimination diet and figure out what foods might make the condition worse. I use a lot of nightshades so not sure what else you could use instead. Maybe going for cream based sauces with tofu? 💕
