This is so sick, I always love the fly fishing movies y'all make. Even cooler, I worked at Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone while y'all were filming this! Yellowstone was the highlight of my life, it doesn't get any better than waking up before your shift to fish some Cutthroat on the Yellowstone River. I've only made it halfway through the video but I hope y'all stopped at the Firehole and Slough Creek. Just a couple of the handful of amazing spots to fish in Yellowstone. If you ever go back definitely find the "VIP Pools," its a confluence off Slough Creek that holds some of the biggest Cutthroat in Yellowstone.

That is my go to happy spot, all the guides say that its just a run off farming river. No good fish there, I encouraged that thinking

so i been fly fishing for about a year and its been few trips here and there so im still not the best. my friend introduced me to some native streams comming off of mount mitchell in nc. great fishing with elk hair caddis for native and wilds further down stream. with that said these feeder streams are at time 4 feet across then random runs and then random pools which is what we aimed for to find the fish. but the problem we had was that the deeper holes which somehow could be 8 foot plus, we would get fish to rise but sometimes they would turn back around. so im trying to figure out using a nymph in general. when im in those tight streams which are highly overgrown, im using a 2wt 6.5 foot rod and using a 7.5 tappered and sometimes 6 foot ( 6 foot seemed better). should i try this dry dropper with maybe a 14 caddis and maybe like a pheasant tail or something like that below for those super deep pools?

very well done. living through many trips like that, I remember the tough ones more than the smooth ones!

Isn’t your line to leader a handshake knot?? The profile is smoother and it’s stronger. It didn’t look like he did that, and should have shown it, because there’s two ways…..🤷🏼‍♂️

Cool video! I love these small streams. The more I watch and learn about Euro Nymphing, the more I've come to realize that it is basically Tenkara Fly Fishing with a Western Fly Rod. Have you ever tried Tenkara Fly Fishing? It would be cool to see a video of that.

Where are the fish, what are they doing during a muddy water situation like this one. Do they have to wait until it's clear to eat?

Noticably poor casting, like them wrist a re broken. Heaving it out of you shoulders like casting a brick. Why them expensive rods. Maybe that's why

Had an extremely scary encounter with a lightning storm with me and my 3 sons. Question for anyone reading this, where is it safest to be in the remote wilderness during a lightning storm? I hear that we should avoid open areas but also stay away from trees due to their roots. Anyone with some good advice would be greatly appreciated.

Errors in the first 2 mins of this video... 1st.... take a dump early in the a.m. before you leave to go fishing. 2nd, always peal off what ever line you are going to cast before you start casting. 3rd, if you hear your rod "swishing" in the air, you are casting too fast. So slow down and let the rod load up, feeling the line and let the rod do the work, not you. Learning how to shoot a bit of line on each haul during your double haul is key to getting the line out quickly with the least amount of strokes to load up the rod for your final shoot. Also, your target is not "at" the fish, it's 3-4 feet above the fish and then letting the fly settle to the water once your flyline and leader completely unfurls (hello....presentation is key here). 4th, always point your rod straight at the fish (not to the side) with tip top guide either at or touching the water surface, when stripping the fly. If you don't, you'll not feel the eat and many bones will pick up the fly and spit it back out before you "think" they ate it. So if they pick up the fly with rod straight at them, with all of the slack in the line gone and rod tip at the water line, you'll "feel" the bump and then immediately follow with a short strip set (not a trout set)! Too much shizzit to comment on the rest of the vid. But a blind squirrel..... ahh, you know the joke! 😹
