Hey man, I think I responded on Instagram. I think it’s the sound being on and it has to be turned off. That happened to me once. I turned off the sound and it worked after that. But I still have to check my xf10 and I’ll double check.

The photos you shot were simply beautiful. Did you shoot all of them with your XE4 or did you also use your XF 10?
@sarifoto

Thanks for the compliment on the photographs. It made me go back and watch the video :). I used both in pretty much every segment but the first segment is more xe4 heavy, the 2nd and 3rd segments are really xf10 heavy and the 4th segment has quite a few xe4 images with it getting really xf10 heavy towards the end of that segment. For a while I’ve been thinking about doing a new series called “commentaries” where I take images that people bring up in the comment sections and I make a video telling the story of that photograph as well as sharing the settings and camera used to make those shots. Anyways. Short answer is both :)

is it suitable to use while hiking on trail or forest?
@sarifoto
@sarifoto 2 ай бұрын
I’ve used it while hiking many times. It’s lighter than the x100f and it’s a great carry camera. That being said, because I have an xf10 which is much smaller and has a 28mm full frame equivalent lens, I end up taking the xf10 on hikes more often than I do the x100 original but I do prefer the images and user experience of the x100 over my other cameras. It’s slower than most of my cameras but I love it. Also, when I take this camera hiking, I’ve used a camera strap while the xf10 I’ve put in my pocket. If you don’t mind having the camera on a strap or you can always put it in your back pack if you take one with you. I hope this helps.

Yes, I record all videos (except for anything I record on my phone) in 1080p and then I upscale it so that when I upload to KZfaq the 1080p looks the way it’s supposed to. Otherwise the compression that KZfaq applies will squash it way too much.

dude how do I adjust my shutter while in manual mode? for some reason i'm only able to adjust the aperture while in manual mode
@sarifoto
@sarifoto 5 ай бұрын
Hey Bryan, if you’re aperture is the only thing that adjust then you’re probably in aperture priority. When in aperture priority one dial changes the aperture and the other changes the exposure compensation. When in manual, one should change the shutter speed and the other aperture. If it’s in M and the dial on the far right of the top end of the camera isn’t changing the shutter speed, try putting it in aperture priority and seeing if that same dial changes the exposure compensation. If it doesn’t do anything in either of those modes then the dial may not be working. Hopefully it’s just something as simple as switching it over to M and not the latter. Let me know if you figure it out. Or send me a message on Instagram and I’ll send you a video of how it works on mine.

I don’t know for sure but I think it has the same sensors as the xe1 and the xpro1 which produce some amazing colors even though they don’t have a lot of simulations. I love the colors from my xe1 so if it’s the same sensor I can see why that camera could be amazing.

I think what happens is that when multiple people make videos about how much they love a camera, other people start buying that model and the prices go up. It’s crazy to me that the original is more expensive than the S. I think it’s crazy that all of the X100 series are so expensive still. I’d love to buy another x100 like an S or a T but there’s no way I’m paying $700+ for it. You did the right thing buying the S in my opinion. It’s a much better deal.

Really enjoyed this one. Takes be back to working in Milan and relaxing at Lake Iseo. As you say, the lakes are much better shared with company - something for you to look forward to next time. Do I understand correctly that all the stills in Milan were on the 27mm but the stills in Lake Como were a mix of 18mm and 27mm?
@sarifoto
@sarifoto 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Lake Iseo is great! I’ve only been there once but I enjoyed my day there. And yes, for sure, some things are just much better when they can be shared. As far as the lenses. Yes, you understood correctly. Both lenses for lake como and just the 27mm for Milan. Because the pace felt more relaxed at Lake Como I figured that taking the time to switch between the 18 and the 27mm lenses would be fine. In fact when I got on the train and looked at the images from lake como on the back of the screen, the scenes that I capture on both lenses were so similar that I just figured I’d stick to one for Milan where the pace is a bit faster. It happened to be the 27mm but when I go back in few months I may try only using the 18mm or perhaps just with the xf10 or the x70, just to close the loop so to speak. And as far as working in Milan, that sounds like an interesting experience. A few years ago I flirted with the idea of moving there but in the end I decided to come back to California. Anyways, I hope you’re well and thanks again for chiming in.

If I’m not mistaken, when I started shooting there were no android phones. They came later. So I tarted with iPhones because that’s what I had. After that I just just upgraded. But I’d have no issues with shooting with an android phone. I’ve actually always been curious about the galaxy series. But in the event that I wasn’t clear, the point I was making is that good photographs can be made with whatever you have. iPhone or android, Sony or Fuji, canon or Nikon…. it doesn’t really matter to me. As long as I get to document life. And that was the point of this video.

Appreciate this video. I have my late dad’s black paint OG X100, evidently a special edition. He was a Fuji guy all his life, from the film days onward - he would tease me for shooting Sony, said it made people look like corpses 😆. On his desk when he passed was his trusty X100. According to his iPhoto library, he took 28,000 pics with it… I’m happy to continue using it. I shoot it exclusively in monochrome JPG with a Cinebloom 20% filter. It’s predates Fuji’s “recipes” by years, but it’s a connection to my dad - of sorts. Like he was in life, this camera isn’t the fastest or most cooperative - it can be downright stubborn, but it’s got a unique charm and a lot of pizazz that newer models, do not have.

@sarifoto
@sarifoto 8 ай бұрын
I mean that you get far away to only capture 3/4 of the subjects body. So for example… from the top of the head down to the top of the knees. But really as long as you place your subject close to the center you can probably get some really good images. Let me know if this makes sense or if you have any other questions.

For everything else where I’m just hanging out with friends or on photowalks I just shoot at f2. @sarifoto
@sarifoto 10 ай бұрын
Hey! Yeah you can totally do this on the x100v. You might have to tweak the colors a tiny bit. I have the xe4 which has the same sensor as the x100v. I’ll give it a try in the next few days. So -2-2 refers to the tint shift. So -2 red or -2 yellow. Or whatever the options are on the xf10. I don’t have it with me and I’m on the road now but on your x100v it would or should be reds -2 and blues -2. So you would basically shift your white balance tint two notches to the left and two notches down. I hope that helps. If it doesn’t let me know and I’ll make a KZfaq short on how to do it. And I’m glad you like this recipe!!

Hey man, I’m actually using a jog recipe in Lightroom that I apply to my fuji pro standard jpg’s. I started making a video on that process and haven’t finished it. I have one more huge deadline I have to meet and I’ll start posting again that being one of the first two or three videos in the pipeline. I’ll also, sell a version of it on my website but I’m still a ways from that. But I am shooting everything in fuji standard park with no adjustments other than that simulation. Or eterna on my xe4 (it’s the only camera that has eterna but on the rest of my cameras it’s fuji standard)
