Gen Z and the millennials can't really understand as so much of the context is lost. As an 80s kid America still had regional cultures each authentically separated from the other. As a teen from Texas some dude going from a very stereotypical waspy upper class job as a stock broker to what was a niche and unknown subculture as a bike messenger was highly perplexing. Also the class and race implications, as well as gender and masculinity (Jack is an authentic man now and not a wussy office boy) You guys with your Robinhood apps and ebikes just can't understand.

I became a bike messenger because of this film. Carried packages on my days off working at a bike shop to pick up extra cash and to stack up more miles. I had a good time doing it. 🚴🙂

I suspect that this movie was inspired by BMX Bandits -- and ironically they used the exact same car for the villain in both films: a Black early '70's Ford LTD. In both films, the villain tries to run down bicycle riders and instead smashes up the car instead.

According to Wikipedia, the story takes place in LA.; although 6from my memories as a 10 year old Uruguayan kid - I would recall it was NY. You mean this scenes were shot in Manhattan and San Francisco? That's so weird

The figure skating girl at the 28 second mark wow. This is prove the figure skaters are super human. To spin that fast without getting dizzy it's unbelievable. Big fan of the movie the best figure skating movie of the franchise.
