Wow. Stumbled across this video. So probably I think back in 1981 or maybe 82. Just after my Mom divorced my dad. He and I drove this road together in a 77 Silverado. I have not been on that road since. It will be a trip with my Dad I will never forget. Both my parents are passed. My mission now is to drive this rd with my now adult kids. That trip with just me and my Dad will forever be one of my favorite memories. Bless you for posting this.

Beech Mountain is a hell hole. It used to be wonderful but one inconsiderate bully destroyed the top of the mountain & now has a rock quarry. A ROCK QUARRY in a recreation area. A rock quarry where hiking trails used to be. His trucks speed up & down the road all day. It's toxic & filthy. He has ruined so many lives. Many people have been forced to move because he destroyed their health with the constant filth & he puts the homeowners' lives at risk. He crushes rock & so there is a constant pounding. The town refuses to do anything for their property owners. Don't buy property on Beech Mountain. You will regret it.

Hi - We've been going many times each year for 16+ years with our family, and haven't seen a bear there yet. Too many people for bears. Bears are rarely seen, and prefer to avoid people. I wouldn't worry about bears.

I am happy to say that I have done many of the things in this video. I love Postero and Shine. I also enjoy Burntshirt Vineyards and Campfire Grill. Chimney Rock Road from the mall area to Lake Lure is about 13-15 miles long and has tons of apple orchards and wineries. Chimney Rock Village is fun to explore about 2 miles before you get to Lake Lure. Beautiful drive!

I live outside of Charlotte and drive to the Blowing Rock / Moses Cone area frequently. One of the most beautiful parts of the world. My favorite trail at Moses Cone is the hike up towards the 360 tower. It takes you past the grave of the founding Cone family and into amazing scenery as you get higher. Then finally the tower for the view. Great video!
