I enjoyed the video "Chap". I believe the lower control arms on Supras are metal compared to the Lexus; which are aluminium. Designed for different steering feel.
@theautochap
@theautochap 2 күн бұрын
You are correct! The Supra arms are reported to be made from cast iron, and the Lexus ones from aluminum which is why they are more expensive. The bushings on the Supra arms are also known to be stiffer than the Lexus bushings. Thanks for watching!

There are some steps that are n I t required for NON-VVTI ge heads. The is a vvti 2jzge head(no distributor, intake cam is completely different for starters). Just keep this detail in mind if you're watching and you have a 92-94 sc300 with a ge non vvti cylinder head.

Good point! However the non vvti head on SC 300s is 1992-97, not just 92-94.

It'll be a life saver if you can 3D print discontinued trim pieces. I do believe the center air vent piece has been 3D printed already.
@theautochap
@theautochap 6 күн бұрын
You might be right on the ac vent trim piece, however I did search quite a bit and couldn’t find a 3D printed piece anywhere. The window trim piece is extremely difficult due to it’s complex shape and sheer size. Getting an exact fit to both the window and the door panel will take a lot of tinkering both in CAD and 3D printing, however I’m pretty motivated as that’s pretty much the last broken trim piece in my car. It would be really cool to offer a 3D printed solution to this problem, as the parts are long since discontinued and literally every SC has this issue. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

@@theautochap I always wanted to get into 3D printing, but I think that'll be the last thing on my mind after I do all the mechanics I want to do with my SC300.

Fyi, there is a wire tucked behind the radio that is a reverse wire. Only has power when light comes on. Its only used on nav models with stock backup camera. Mine did not have that, so its tucked behind radio. Works great

I keep getting comments saying I forgot to mention two hoses while removing the throttle body - I did not because I never removed them. If you watch the video, you will see those two hoses are still attached. This is because I am not completely removing the throttle body, just turning it over and setting it aside so I can access the valve covers.

I didn’t forget any hoses. I have answered this question in multiple comments on this video - I didn’t have to take off all the hoses because I’m not removing the throttle body, just setting it aside to access the valve covers.

thank you for this video. my door lock on my 2003 Tundra stopped working a few years ago. Slowly i have been repairing parts that have failed or flat out broke, i.e rear window latch, tail gate won't open, window motor on driver side etc etc. the door lock is now on my to do list. thank you for the detail explanation and instruction.

My toyota dealer said my vin doesnt match the combo switch with fog light, And that my dash doesnt have the dummy button with wire behind so id have to rewire myself. Is the part not a match because of my model/trim level? I have a 2004 Toyota tundra SR5 double cab 4.7 v8

This video has been incredibly useful. I recently had to replace both side mirrors on my 1999 GS 400. The process went smoothly for the first mirror, but I encountered some difficulties with the second one, which was the driver's side. Unfortunately, I broke the black plastic piece on the upper cable and one of the clip holders that snapped into the door. Despite these issues, I managed to reassemble everything, and thankfully, everything worked perfectly. However, the two issues I encountered still bother me.
