In 2020 I had a problem it was a solution too. When we went through the ammo shortage, all of my common cartridge components were missing from local guns stores and online sales. .375 was so odd ball I found plenty of projectiles and the cases were plentiful at my public range.

Hi, I'm also a Ruger fan, by far the Ruger revolvers are built stronger then most others, and very dependable and long lasting. In my opinion and experience with them in calibers 357 and 454 the best way to go for versatility of loading, power, and use of several cartridges is the 454, and it will pair well with the carbine in 45 colt caliber, plus you'll have the option of using 454 in the back country, and lighter 45 colt for SD carry, and shorter grips will solve the height issue. The second choice is GP100 357, for same reasons however less power but both guns are excellent.

I hate seeing these videos. One thing is that brass has some nasty stuff, including lead. You are releasing lead when you do this. The warm water you're placing your hands in opens the pores in your skin, allowing this lead a direct path to your bloodstream. I have yet to see anyone in these videos wearing gloves, and most are doing this in their kitchens.

This is the only comp I use on all my rifles. It outclasses many brakes/flash hiders and even other comps in recoil management. And it’s not a flame thrower either. And outclasses many compensators in that category too.

I have about 12 years of hunting & shooting experience with the 454 casull in a Rossi R92 . Basically same same just more . I found the 454 full power loads unnecessary & a bit much on screws & mag tube pins on the little carbine. Using trailboss I got hard cast 250gr rnfp right on 1100 fps , that load trucks on through anything for complete pass throughs . Game bleeds out fast with a big blood loss . Same load has basically zero recoil . I now have a 3 cavity mold of 2 x 270 gr rnfp & 3rd is same bullet just hollow pointed @ 255 gr . I have cast them much softer & intend on loading them to 1100 fps also . My full power loads are a 318 gr Lee 454 wheel weight alloy @ 1910 fps using h110 . My next batch I’ll load back to about 1700 fps & soften the alloy . My mate is getting 1390 fps with the same Lee 454 straight wheel weight alloy boolit , stiff but not maximum loads from his Rossi 45 colt . I think a 300 ish grain rnfp at 1500 ish fps is all anyone would ever need IMO from a 45 colt . Also the Lee 300gr 452 musket mini ball rnfp hollow base is useful. I use that in a Rossi circuit judge carbine @ 1000 fps . That could be loaded backwards also for a huge hollow point, but most likely won’t feed from a tube . Cheers mate , I subbed too . .

@@ModernMountainMan btw those 454 numbers are from my magnetospeed crony 318gr / 31gr ar 2205(h110) 20” barrel. The magtech factory 260 gr jsfp is a dam hot load @ 2100 fps . As I said my experience shows it’s just not necessary for all of that power . I just feel sorry for the little carbine, wide blunt nosed lead boolits must deliver a big shockwave through the animal, because many times they just stand stunned or fall over wide eyed & literally stiff legged. Very anticlimactic.

Does the Rossi R92 Lever in 454 Casull reliably cycle 45 colt? I was looking at the actions made by a company. I can’t remember the name, that made 460 Smith & Wesson Magnum, 454, and 45 long models, but stated that each one would not cycle the next smaller caliber because of Partridge links. I don’t know if that was just so they could sell more rifles,or what?

@@kindercannon2280 big horn armory i believe. 45 colt feeds fine . I found it seems to be the shape of the nose. I don't have trouble with rnfp . However round noses & roundish hp seem to hang up a bit. I found slamming them home seems to overcome the hang up. Just stick with the rnfp is my advice.

I think it's better to get the optic much closer to perfect when you install it. His windage was way off which means his barrel was pointing one way and the optic quite a bit off left to right. Think of the lenses inside the scope as tubes which get moved when your adjust windage and elevation. It's better to have the tubes (lenses) be as concentric as possible which will allow you the most adjustment out in the field. If the smaller inside tube (lens) is way off to one side or the other (windage), it's going to reduce the the amount of elevation adjustment you're going to have because the two circles, inside tube (lens) and outside tube are too close together so as you adjust vertically the inner tube will hit the inside wall of the outer tube much sooner. You have to think about this in your brain. Just draw two circles on paper that are concentric. Now draw the same two circles with the inner circle way off to one side. You can now see there is much less room vertically for the inner circle. Try to make sure your optic installation is as close to perfect as possible and then you'll need less "clicks" to zero your rifle. Shims might be necessary and soda cans work pretty well if you need shims. There are better ways...of course.

Bro this is what I’ve always thought like why not just use dish soap and and hot water or something like that. I figured people didn’t do it because it made the rounds dangerous but I guess this is proof right here that you can do it and that’s not the case so that’s awesome I’m gonna start doing this for sure. I only press 45 colt and I only do it for personal use at most 100 rounds at a time so this is perfect for me. Just reloading on a budget

Thanks for the quick reply. So what are you getting off the bench at 50, 100, whatever? Groups I mean. Not "ringing steel". Are you shooting cast? I must have put 20 different loads through mine in the past week. Same results I mentioned. I even put a red dot on it to eliminate the scope. Then took the rail off and remounted everything from the ground up. It's driving me nuts. I even changed bullet weights and diameters, going up to a .454. Annealed the brass... I never see anyone posting their bench groups. With just about any 45 Colt rifle.@@ModernMountainMan
