Great job! (1) Would really like to see you do a build in OnShape since it is freely available to all and (2) would be interested to see how you provide inner structure to the wings and fuse after the shell is contoured.

Great video as usual. Thank you for the nice content. BUT I should mention that KV (590 KV) does NOT stand for Kilo Volts 😀. It stands for the motor velocity constant and it is typically measured in units of revolutions per minute per volt (RPM/V).

Really digging these videos, Tony. Would it be possible to get a tutorial on something with more details in the fuselage? Something that isn't necessarily a square or round fuse? For instance, something that you have plans for that shows the top view, side view and then has the profile for the bulkheads. Thanks again for the great content!!

I've tried the free form method, but I have difficulty getting it to conform well to the body lines. I can surface loft like a mad man and have all these tricks I use to make it easier, but free form seems simpler to use. Just takes practice I guess.

This is really informative. Thank you for these methodical tutorials. I do have a question, however. Is there a reason you sketched one panel at a time and then patch each one at a time rather than sketch them all at once and then do all the patches? Is it to avoid confusion? Is a series of sketches used for editing purposes?
@cadbuildflyrc378414 күн бұрын
Good question. With surface modeling it is best practice to do one section at a time.

Surface modeling of complex shapes is insanely difficult. What I've found to be helpful when doing 3d splines are intersection curves. You get a much smoother and more accurate result than trying to shape a spline in 3d space.

I clicked on this because of the "assembly" part. Coming from SolidWorks I'm quite good at modeling in Fusion but I did not like the way Fusion handles assembly. Needless to say it was a bit disappointing to see only that one part being created. But then I remember how I started 15 years ago Subscribed to see more of this 😁 The pace is the video should make it not too hard for beginners to follow along: this video on one screen and Fusion on another screen. Maybe some extra text like "hit L for line" and "hit D for Dimension" could even make this easier for the real beginners to follow the instructions. One tip on dimensions: on the dimension of the features for the mounting tab on the left or the hole on the right, specify these after the mirror or use the centerline linetype when creating the dimension. That first 10 mm dimension is half of the 20 mm size of the flange connecting the the upper link and the 15 mm is half of the 30 mm slot that connects to the hub. Specifying these as 20 and 30 mm in the drawing will make things more logical when coming back to this design when you want to change something after a few months.
