Why is BP millings making hookbaits 🤔 is the guy not making enough money already or is he just a proper greedy cunt.. I've been making bait all my life n consider myself a chef not a builder 😮 god dawn charlatans.

A very interesting interview and very focused on carp fishing baits and mysteries of what way a carp likes certain boilie flavours base mixes oils many years of carp fishing bait knowledge that John Baker 🎩 has learned over his lifetime I am taking him very seriously on his boilie recipes .

I see a future where people will all just meet up down the lake and net the fish and take pictures with them and have a bbq or something. The fish care thing is out of hand in a way and the whole thing contradicts going fishing in the first place.

Oh yeah what I wanted to say to Sam about the ‘weed’ hook links, I came across a product in 1987 that when doctord with some Pantone pens looks and feels in the water exactly like silk weed. Very often when reeling in there are bloodworm and bugs living in the hooklink! It seems to fool them and it definitely fools the carp! I’m not gonna tell the world what it is but if you would like to know let me know. Maybe thru you bait company?

Another thought provoking episode, top shelf stuff as always. I hope that James takes no offense to what I am about to say but it is obvious that he is not an expert on this subject, and if you are talking science and you are not an expert then whatever. Sorry but ya know? I do get it. Color is light bouncing off the subatomic structure of objects and all that... apparently a mantis shrimp can see 9 primary colours so who knows? An expert thats who! ❤❤❤

Hey Russ - Thanks for the feedback. I won't ever claim to be an expert - there are no letters after my name - I have just always been curious as to why things happen the way they do - especially in the wonderful world of carp fishing where carp vision isn't spoken about much. I'm always keen to learn more so please lmk if you think there are areas that I should look into further. DM if preferred. Would love to jump on a call to discuss this further :)

Food for thought, there are some great points to look at further, but I'm not that sure I agree with everything. For instance, with a the carps lips being sensitive. I've had multiple occasions of carp hooking themselves while surface fishing while using a light self hooking controller where the fish has tried to to carry on feeding, seeming not to notice that it was hooked until I tighten up to it.

I love this podcast I really do Unfortunately this "expert" was a little ignorant on many points and on many just incorrect. That said its nice to see some debate pointed towards sight, some points are perfectly valid and interesting, certainly something to consider when fishing.

Glad you liked the podcast :) As I stated, these are my opinions from evidence I’ve found over the years from reading up on the research papers & the few articles I have been able to find online. Am keen to learn as much as possible on the subject so please lmk the areas you think I need to research further. DM if preferred.

Braid vs mono vs flurocarbon line what's more visual to a carp
@CarpChronicles3 ай бұрын
James would be the man to ask but I recon it’s impossible to tell. What I do is break up the outline of braid with marker pens. I recon that’s probably the best bet

How about using peat or molehill soil for the impulse liquid carrier then a single hook bait as your food item. All the attractiveness of the impulse within the soil but no food items apart from the one boilie/popup
@danielgreen46213 ай бұрын
Hi Sam you mentioned your base mixes are very soluble in boiler form. But if you use the impulse as the liquid for the powder eggs. If your Baits contains hydros within the basemix before boiling and are soluble will the impulse liquid work alongside the hydros in a soluble boilie. Because the skin of the boilie has broken down. So no longer a skinned boilie.

Meant to leave a comment a while back. Loving these pod casts. Ive been making bait for around 8 years now - I run a small bait making business on the side of my day job as I was fed up with shop bought shelfies - so much so, I couldnt even tell you what baits are on the market these days...listening to these guys is amazing - things they are saying is also stuff Ive found out for myself in the last 8 years too - so it really gives me confidence in what Im doing and then some! Seriously keep up the great content!!!

As usual great podcast, really enjoyed it. Sam, quick question: You mentioned cinnamon leaf EO being very good. Think in previous podcasts, John Baker and Bill Cottam rated Cinnamon bark as the better of the two. Your findings have been different?
@CarpChronicles5 ай бұрын
Bill also prefers cinnamon leaf, we spoke about this in the podcast I did with him. I don’t think John Baker has done all that much on EO’s to be completely honest with you, at least that’s the impression I got when chatting to him about EOs a few years back. Both leaf and bark versions are good but the leaf version is clearly the winner. Each to their own though!
