Always loved Dire Straits, lived in Leeds uk all my life, never had the chance to see them live, I was born in 1964, think I have been in the pub Mark Knopfler used to play, The Grove. I was born in the summer of 64 ❤ that’s my telegraph road.

First term in boarding school. 15 years old. I was in a two person room and my roomate used to play this on his little two-in-one radio cassette player after lights out. We'd be in our bunks, not speaking, listening to Dire Straits. We knew nothing of life but we thought if this was the music grown ups were making it must be ok.

I´ve seen many times Mark, I play the guitar, and I love this song and how he plays, but the truth is this is not his best performance, there are many mistakes in his playing here, this is something objetive, not a critic to him or his music by any means.

It's a great tune, and much covered. Knopfler's guitar playing was fun when it first came(late 70s?) - that "chicken pickin" sound. His songs like "....Philadelphia" and "Brothers ....arms" - much more restrained and soulful. Great song writer. But he is incomplete as a guitarist. Sustained notes are not his thing. Expect MK extremists to disagree.

Choosing a style doesn’t make a musician “incomplete”. Would you say that about a Metal shredder who doesn’t play Mark’s style?

Damn, every time I'm writing the music to a new song, I think what was that little touch mark added. Suddenly it's 3:am and I've just listened to 4 hours of such an amazing guitar player.. his style it's like a 1/4;note and you go Knopler poof oh one more song Mark thank you

Nice to see a Resonator on stage, I like how despite having become a mainstream band PF/Knopfler don't forget their musical roots..
