You mentioned something about cleaning the sensor. I seem to vaguely remember reading in the manual of my ancient Canon camera that it had some sort of a function to clear dust off it. What ways of cleaning your sensor are there these days?
@TonghoPhotography
@TonghoPhotography 10 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks very much for watching and commenting. I don't think sensor cleaning has changed much over the years. Most Canon cameras (DSLR and Mirrorless) have a self-cleaning device which vibrates/shakes the sensor to clear dusts when you turn the camera off. You can also use the menu to have the camera clean the sensor on demand. When the cleaning happens, it is important to tilt the camera with the lens facing down so gravity will cause the shaken-loose dust to fall away from the sensor. You can manually clean the sensor if some dust would not fall off the sensor after shaking. You need to set the camera menu to "manual clean mode", which exposes the sensor. I'd first use an air blower (I use a Giotto rocket blower) to blast the dust off the sensor. If some dust persists, I'd then use a commercially available sensor cleaning swab to clean the sensor.

Thanks so much. I think I watched this a while ago but could not remember and have a shoot coming up (amateur). Anyway, I watched it again to check. The Digital Lens Optimiser now recognises the lens, FWIW. I assume a firmware update fixed this since your video.......As an amateur, I shoot RAW + Jpeg. I save a few special RAW images for posterity (future editing) or sometimes think a little extra time is warranted on whatever in post, but mostly Jpegs are good enough (personal choice) ...................I always appreciate your videos.
@TonghoPhotography
@TonghoPhotography Ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment. I think Jpegs are fine to use unless they have major flaws (like severely under/overexposed and/or wrong white balance) which make them harder to correct in post than if they were RAW files.

I just don’t get this bokeh obsession. The difference between the DS and the regular RF 85 1.2 is practically nothing that special to my eye….😅 thanks Hank. Good video.

You're right...the DS version is marginally useful at a cost of 1.5 f/stops. The bokeh difference is only noticeable for night lights, IMHO.

I recommend recording a 30-second video to check the clarity of your audio, ensuring there are no room echoes. Utilize a lavalier microphone attached to your shirt or a directional desktop microphone. It's advisable to refrain from using built-in microphones on cameras or laptops. Once all set, ACTION on the set!

This is wrong. An 8-bit image is a type of digital image that uses 8 bits to represent each pixel's colour information. This means that each pixel can have 2^8 (256) different colour values, ranging from 0 to 255. As a result, 8-bit images are capable of displaying a total of 256 different colours. These images are also commonly referred to as "256-color images." A 16-bit image uses 16 bits to represent each pixel's colour information, allowing for 2^16 (65,536) different colour values per channel. This provides a much broader and more accurate range of colours compared to 8-bit images. 16-bit images are often referred to as "high-colour" images.
@TonghoPhotography
@TonghoPhotography Ай бұрын
@@sandoragoston4997 It is not wrong. A color is comprised of 3 elements, red, green, blue so the total colors are 256x256x256 which is 16.7 million colors. Likewise a 16-bit image can have 65,536x65,536x65,536 which is 281 trillion colors.
@agostons
@agostons Ай бұрын
@@TonghoPhotography if you put it that way, this is correct. I was referring to the per-pixel color depth, which is in case of 16 bits represent each pixel's color information, allowing for 2^16 (65,536) different color.

It's a conscious decision on my part. My final product is jpeg which is 8-bit, editing in 16 or 32 will not help in the end when you down-convert to 8 bit without any control.
