Dawn is the Mary Ann that we grew up with. Things don't really change,

If I remember correctly there wasn’t supposed to be anymore to the story. The outcry was enormous so Gervais/Merchant worked hard on a final chapter that could conclude things on a satisfying note; boy and did they.

UK office is so incredibly genius & emotional throughout really shows anxiety and heartache and humiliation, it’s so deep. Where as American version is just a silly haha funny show

It's between this scene and Gavin with his porno cookie jar as the most heartfelt and tender of the series.

Does anyone ever call out Dawn for dating one man and leading on another?

He should have put another pound in for that. Jasper Carrot probably needs it.

The American version had about three camera angles and five minutes of expository dialogue to convey less tension than these two express wordlessly in a few seconds.

SO much between Tim and Dawn is unsaid in their exchanges, it’s brilliant. The audience knows exactly what they’re communicating to each other. The strength of this show aside from Gervais and Merchant is undoubtedly the will-they-won’t-they dynamic of Tim and Dawn, portrayed PERFECTLY by Martin Freeman and Lucy Davis.

Tim has wanted a kiss all day, but Dawn has had a shit day from the kissing booth and he's nervous to ask, so he jokingly throws it in and acts like he didnt want it. Dawn finally gets her kiss with Tim, something she probably can't admit to herself that she wanted just to see what it was like since they are just good friends, and the kissing booth was a joke, something expected from the young woman receptionist. She jumps up, jokingly getting closer until they cross the barrier of the magnetic pull they both know they have and desperately avoid and suddenly she's tenderly kissing the man she has had a forbidden crush on for years, and it's better than her fiance's, what fiance, the world has collapsed into that moment. Until suddenly it snaps back, they both break the kiss and Tim wanders off bemused while Dawn is swamped with guilt over her inadvertent cheating. It started as a joke, it resulted in the best kiss she's ever had, and she's probably never felt worse in her life

More raw and realistically done than the American equivalent, with Jim's confession and kiss, even though i like that one very much too. The fact that you don't know what he said is brilliant. You can't go away with Lee? I want you to stay? I want to be with you? I'm in love with you? So many different sentences he could've said, and a 'no' extinguishes all of them. And he just has to put on a brave face and continue onward in his empty, stagnant life indefinitely (or so we think). Bravo to the writers

This is much more heartwarming than the office "romance" (and I use the term very liberally) which I had. At least there were feelings here, while it turned out that I was just another in a long line of side dicks for her.

At the end of this scene, the camera lingers of Tim's face for a few seconds. I always though he had a little smirk on his face there. Initially I thought she'd said yes and he was just telling us she'd refused. The way the show plays out though, she probably did say no.

Something so attractive about her in this series, even though on paper she's kinda dumpy and has a huge forehead. It's all down to charm and personality, I guess.

Why did she say no thought she loved him back
@katherinegraham38037 ай бұрын
People are often scared to make big changes to their lives. If Dawn told Tim she loved him, she would need to break up with Lee and change her plans to move. Part of her is too scared to do that, so she just says no instead.

A microsecond of a stolen real kiss and her hands on his face showing how much she adores him, and then that smouldering almost resentful glance of forbidden desire afterwards when he's walked off camera depicts such passion and the struggle to restrain it.. it's hard to believe they were acting cos it strikes like lightning. These guys were at the top of their game in the Office.
