How to deal with employees that overshare and act overly friendly to manipulate their way into a promotion despite poor work performance, what is the physiology behind this? how can i handle that employee going over my head to complain about not getting what he wants? Or why do employees over sell themselves and never follow through?

I just put in my two weeks notice after being with my job for over sixteen years. The only reason i did that was because i need the paycheck until i start my new job soon. Im also milking the clock as much as possible 😂

My team wont respect me , they have a cluque with each other. Other manager's are in this clique too. They are rude , dont say hi . Make me very uncomfortable. I think when i delegate a task they will fight me on it. Only thing is that im not sure ill have support as a manager because they are so afraid of loosing staff and everyone is very comfortable. the biggest mistake many managers make is competing with their subordinates instead of helping. it's all about them, and nothing about you. once the situation gets there, there is no need to stay. just fucking leave.

My manager is a beast manager. She is smart and very switched on but shes harsh with her words and I am very intimidated by her. I respect her but I feel like I’m not up to her standard for working and I feel discouraged by it. I feel inferior at work.

I had a fellow manager hit almost ALL of these bad boss things. Sadly it got so toxic and out of hand that an hourly employee literally assaulted him on the truck bay. After his medical leave he literally came back with the same tactics. We had to have a mediation about several instances. He eventually got terminated in 2021 because he was a litigation risk. My point is Bad bosses get passes until they either get media attention or a possible lawsuit.

What if you do your job so well that your boss gets paranoid, thinks you're going to take their position, then demotes you and makes you the new, permanent janitor? Because that actually happened to me. I stuck to my guns and said: "If I'm not doing Marketing, then I don't work here." As for the ammo, I gave no ammo, but what happened was that other coworkers who LOVED drama - they MADE UP false information and then my boss used that false information against me. I could never prove anything and neither could they, but did they care? Nope.

One of my managers quite literally started calling me slow because i asked questions no one else wanted to ask and would just guess for.

Today it was the day i decided to quit my job. I work in a psychiatric hospital and the staff is so mean to everyone. It came to my ears that staff left me alone for a patient to attack me and the LVN’s were the ones who came to help me. I heard i wouldn’t last in the job because i was a pretty face, today i was reading book because my patient was sleeping in his wheel chair and to not get sleepy i was reading. I nurse came at me pointing fingers and screaming at me that i should close my book in that instant and with had an argument. I was attacked by a patient that was in the other side of the room the staff knowing she would attack me did nothing to prevent and I receive more than 10 hits in my head before staff did something and i was stuck in a hallway i had no place to run. Since then o have been taking pills for anxiety and i get scared when people come too close to me like that nurse who was close enough pointing fingers at me. I feel sad, but it is hard to work in a place where you have no support from your coworkers the job is already hard enough and i do this because i enjoy helping people, but i can’t destroy my mental health because of toxic work environment. I met some good people at work but most of them are not. 😢

The most satisfying thing is when you have a boss that dont have a clue how to do what you're doing is to say. "Oh ok,can you show me?" Then watch how many excuses they have,watch them have a meltdown and they'll go tell their higher up they cant work with you even though they haven't done any actual work at all

They THINK they're ahead cause they read books and passed a couple tests. So they think even if you been doing it 15 years they don't like to hear they're wrong. So I just do it my way

When I was an Executive Chef, the employees came to me with their complaints and concerns about my boss. His toxic behavior was getting worse and worse. I compiled all the complaints and reached out to my boss's boss and hr. In 3 months, I was terminated with no reason given. 6 months later, the director was terminated for misuse of company funds and drinking on the job.

So, what can I do about my toxic boss, when she does the toxic things when there are no witnesses?

A nepo boss was skipped here. Those are some of the worst bosses you can ever ever work with and or for.

The manager where I work is honestly one of the biggest narcissists I’ve ever worked with. Absolutely spoilt princess who manipulates people but specifically men with her looks. I’ve never fallen for it and she can’t stand it. It should be illegal for bosses to call employees back into work when the employees are on scheduled vacation especially when the employee are on a out-of- State or out-of-Country vacation.

Im living this. I work at a "tech" company and they're embracing DEI heavily though everyone else is dumping it. So we got people who work like me and people who talk and don't do anything. They couldn't do any of the work, don't even know how to go about it. But they talk and "culture" themselves in meetings and they're constantly being celebrated despite the fact you'd never go to them for help because they have no idea what anything is. I see them constantly get promoted and my boss constantly talk about them all the time. He always comes to me to do the work and to them to do the talking. Im comfortable in my job because I know the systems and can do lots of work fast so I dont want to have to go get a new job and re learn everything just to get away from them because its probably some degree of this everywhere. Ive been in my position 5 years and people are constantly being promoted past me who cant do anything and dont even know the basics. It sucks. I dont know how we arent going out of business yet.

My manager is fine whenever I am with her, she's actually really fun to hangout with at work. But in the work group chat with our boss, she is constantly putting us down and there is always a problem with the way we are doing something, even if it was fine yesterday.
