@@TheGrapeExplorer From the US. I've only heard "botrytized" which I thought would be "botrytised" for Brits. I guess I learned a new word. I'm assuming you spell it "botrycised."

Your question on the wines from the Douro in Portugal...I can't find anywhere in my WSET Level 2 materials where that is addressed? I'm sure I'm missing it, but the book is organized by grape and not region. When I go through the workbook, there is no identification of the Douro region? For example, on Part 4 of the workbook (page 53 in my workbook), Chardonnay, etc...there are maps that show where the grape is typically grown - France. I went and flipped through he whole workbook and did not see any Portugal highlights with the Douro region/valley? Did I totally miss it somewhere in the materials? Only have two classes, but I can't find that information?

Hi. As per the note on the question cards, these were correct as at 01/01/2019. The course and the topics covered may have changed in the last five years. Good luck with the studies. Cheers

WSET persists in specifying White Zinfandel as the only example of rose (Learning Outcome 2 Range 4), which makes one wonder if the whole course isn’t some kind of joke. White Zinfandel is a completely discredited style of wine and the idea that this is what WSET wants beginners to peg their taste buds on is laughable. WSET insists that the reason they use WZ is because it is the most readily accessible style of rose. Maybe in 1980. Not in 2024.

Unscientific but true: My maternal grandmother drank a small amount daily as tonic. She lived to be 84yrs.... This is my absolute favorite wine although I haven't had it in years because it's not sold in US stores. It's not meant to be consumed by the wine glass full/bottle in one event. It's perfect for the palate in shot glass or liqueur size glass.
