If I'm honest, I can see alot of myself in all of these incidents Benoit went through - outside of the actual in-ring wrestling - and I'm not "crazy", nor could I imagine killing my wife and child. That's why I think it's just not really fair to "black-and-white" stuff like this after the fact. I've "punished" myself by doing ungodly reps for messing up a performance on many occasions. Part of that is probably due to the fact that the slightest faliure as a child was over-punished, and also as a self-motivator to get back up and try again next time. Also, perspective when it comes to 'hazing' is very important. There are generation gaps involved between Benoit and people that complain about non-intoxicated Benoit 'bullying' them. It's literally unavoidable nowadays that Old School Respect is just always seen as bullying. The other side of that Old School attitude is what made Benoit so respectful and dignified in all other areas of his life Having lived through Benoit's career and his death, I'm of the (unprofessional) opinion that Chris basically suffered a sort of prolonged schitzophrenic breakdown - concussion-related or not, it doesn''t matter. A similar thing happened to a high school friend of mine, and slowly over the course of four years, he went from a talented blue chipper into a convicted rapist because he lost stability in his home life, and his strong guiding influences went away. As was obviously getting into deeper and deeper psichosis, he could still have very lucid conversations with people, so long as he had known them when his life was normal. Any time someone or something entered at any moment that he wasn't so connected with, it would make him derail super quickly. Personally that's why I can absolutely separate Chris Benoit the wrestler from Chris Benoit the killer. Maybe I'd have a harder time doing so if Chris actually succeeded in getting on that flight to Vengeance and continued wrestling until he got caught. For all I know, he could have just been a seething brute his whole life, but I think he just went crazy - not in a moment, but slowly over 18 or so months.

Did Benoit come back from down under to pay tribute to Eddie? The chronology or the way the video is presented is perhaps off a bit ?😢

He actually looked like someone who wasn't all there in the head. And he had a sort of physique of a midget (because of the long torso and short legs. Even his facial features. His son had the same look), yet with a normal sized body. It was weird. I always called him an overgrown midget. 😂

WWE is equally responsible for what happened, the law won't touch them for their political inclination and the deep pockets, but the steroid abuse, long working hours, no holiday time and lenient wellness policy is what resulted in this tragedy. Vince is to blame as well, he never took wellness of his employees seriously.

It’s easy enough to suggest that his colleagues should’ve realised they were working with a sociopath, but the thing about people like Benoit is they appear totally normal, totally benign, to everyone, even those they are closest to

To this day I still question if when Chris killed his family if he didn’t see them as intruders. He had paranoia. Hallucinations and losing touch with reality aren’t uncommon with those who have brain damage and/or dementia. Then you add in prolonged steroid use and possible roid rage into the mix. I’m not saying this justifies him killing his wife and son but it would definitely make sense, it would possibly explain the weird text messages he sent out. When Chris came back to reality and realized what he had done to his family he then committed suicide, unable to live with his actions.

With the lack of concussion protocols, shots to the head, and Eddie's passing back then, he was a ticking time bomb. If those protocols were in place back then, maybe he would be alive

It’s sad and crazy to think that Benoits death was the light bulb that made WWE higher ups realize that things such as unprotected chair shots to the head were dangerous and could lead to permanent damage

The only problem with CTE being an "obvious sign," as insinuated by this video is that CTE can only be definitively diagnosed by examining the brain during autopsy. That is, after the affected person's demise. Benoit was often warned against using the Flying Headbutt move, however, as it is cited as being a key factor in weakening the cervical spines of those who used the move. As Ric Flair said, "the human body is not supposed to land that way."

I remember as a kid watching Benoit, it was year 2005-2007, that's after Edie Guerero passing, and Benoit just never looked right. His eyes were so tired all the time, emotionless like he's fighting some demons. But again, there's a lot of acting in WWE, so I can talk now like I know it all...
