Hey! I got one guinea pig as a gift from somebody, but It's only one, I'm a rather new owner of guinea pigs, so I'm still figuring things out, it's already hectic for me to keep clean and provide all the stuff for one guinea pig as I'm a busy student, but, I truly love her now and I don't want to give it to somebody else, but on the contrary I can't afford another pig at the moment, maybe sometime in future. Is it okay if I keep one? Cuz I've been told 2 guineas is the only way but I'm rather in a paradox, I don't want to let my guinea go but I can't afford another one either. However I spend quite a lot of time with her, look out for signs for depression or something and give her a good space with toys and stuff. Is it okay, it's not animal cruelty right 😭

I used to have a hamster and he would ALWAYS escape out his cage! The way I would find him, is I would start cooking something in the kitchen and he would ALWAYS come running from out of NOWHERE looking for something to eat! 🤣

Also I know you mentioned that you were on a tight budget a lot if you brought those guinea pigs inside and set up a C&c grid cage it would be a lot more cheaper and you could sell your Hutch and that and they could be having a lot better of a home again I don't know what situation you are having I can tell you are pretty young

Hi don't know how much experience you have with guinea pigs but they're in animal that should live inside due to predators and I noticed your door was not very sturdy if a raccoon wanted to get in there it easily could I don't know what kind of predators you have or what your situation is and it also looks like they have a hut which are not good for them either just some advice

I considered a pet rodent and watched many KZfaq videos about their care. I was a kid in the 1970s, and It’s great to see how most people care for their pet rodents now. Such a pleasant change from metal chicken wire bottoms. In choosing which species of pet rodent I wanted, I narrowed it down to rats or Guinea pigs. I’m left at a standstill now and can’t decide. Rats are more intelligent and affectionate like a dog but can’t be kept in an open enclosure like how Guinea pigs can be kept in. Rats are so intelligent, but so much so that they are great escape artists. Also, Rats only live for about two years and that seems a tad too short, especially since they need to be kept in groups, and when introducing new Guinea pigs to replace one that has past away, if you want a baby or younger Guinea pig, you need to introduce two of them together so they will have a companion in their same age group while adjusting to being included to a new home with older piggies. So even though they have short life spans, keeping them as a group turns into an almost endless cycle of commitment. Guinea pigs on the other hand can be kept in an a more open enclosure, and live longer (3-4 years), but seem skittish and like little mindless eating machines. I can’t decide because I want my favorite parts of both rats and Guinea pigs rolled into one but the aspects I like about one, the other doesn’t have. Until I decide, I’ll just keep watching more meat KZfaq videos.

The one thing they got wrong is saying it's okay to house hamsters together. ALL hamsters are solitary and not social like mice, rats, rabbits. Please do not house hamsters together!!!

Is having one piggie ok? I am getting one in 30 days and i have a cage much bigger than a c&c 2x4 cage. The reason he needs to be kept alone is because he can be really hyper and really mean to other piggies but im going to try get two more piggies in a few months to see if hes fine with them but if he isnt then ill buy a cage for beside him so they can still communicate, is this ok?

I’ve owned both and guinea pigs are definitely more loving in my experience plus, they’re easier to train tricks to in exchange for treats!! And they are decently way more intelligent domesticated compared to their wild counterparts.

Just a heads up guys, flying saucers are not recommended for cages, only for play pens as hamsters can fly off of them and injure themselves. Just thought I'd let people know xx

I know you have the best intentions but that cage if FAR too small, I recommend getting a c&c cage! They are very cheap and u can expand them and give your piggies as much space as you like
