Nice!!!! Many of those keyboards I didn't even know you had, although I did know you've always had the Moog Grandmother. I used to own a Kawai K5000 S just like yours. It was a nice and very different type of synth "additive" as you already mentioned. However, after having it for a year and a half or so, I decided it wasn't for me and sold it with no regrets. However, the sound is different, so that might be the advantage of owning one. Also, I admire that Ensoniq ASR X Pro. I was absolutely shocked to see that on the table. Wow!!!!! I know it's still a work in progress, but it looks like it is coming together nicely already. Sweet setup!!!

@@traitortotheliving You're very welcome. Yeah, that's just it about the ASR. It's all about the "SOUND"!!! I would really like to get me one, but I can't afford it right now. Oh, and if you have the 8 analog output expansion, you're sitting on a goldmine!

Respectfully, Polly Popo was using the MPC for years before he “discovered” that the modern MPC didn’t sound good to him. That’s illogical. I had to check out on him. Seems like he doesn’t know his own mind. As far as Roger Linn, that man does know his own mind and speaks it. I assume that something happened in the background and maybe they came to an agreement. They sent him a machine and he gave his honest opinion. He likely wasn’t compelled to say positive things about it. Good to see his inputs. I think he’s not getting back into the ring with Akai. It’s a case of what you saw is all you’re getting. His perspectives. As far as how the MPC sounds, it has a higher bit order converters than the vintage units, thus doesn’t sound bit crushed like the vintage units do.

People who are ignorant come up with all kinds of conclusions. Lynn never had issues with Akai company products, it was against a person. I use my Live with anything and everything as it has become the main go to, I would not change it for anything else. I agree some workflow things can be updated (hopefully 3.0 one day soon) but if you really know your gear, there's not much to complain about in comparison. I also don't think the debate started with quality as much as it is supposed to be the company's flagship device and should have top notch internals. In other words, your compact car and the rest of your line up should not have all the bells and whistles as your luxury sedan if you are paying luxury tax. At the end of my day, I can care less cause the industry standard is still 16bit/44.1hz, same as the SP-404 and every other sampler, unless you are making music for movies which is 48hz or releasing Tidal Hifi music at 24bit/192kHz in which case you leave that to professional audio engineer. Aside from that, running track-outs through Analog Heat or couple 500 series is warm enough to call it a happy day. All the negativity and hate is so unnecessary. P.S. Poli needs to take his head out of his a$$ and stop listening to idiots. He went and spent Rossum rabbit hole bucks and realized the mistake. He was a happier and better man as a modular, humble MPC teacher than following goofballs spreading 10yrs of the same BS about "converters"! Let's carry on and.make music!!! And for the people that don't know how to sample on a "sampler", you got your damn Stems....now what's the next dumb complaint!!???

I agree with much of what you said. Regarding the Song Mode feature, it's pretty much the same as it has always been since the beginning of the MPC, with several enhancements over the years, the current version being the best of them all. I believe the song mode is just part of the traditional MPC workflow, which I think is absolutely great for pattern-based rhythm sequencing. It's workflow is structured based on a drum machine. However, if you like a linear style sequencer, the Akai Force has that as well as the Ableton Live style clip launching workflow. I have an original MPC X synced up to an Akai Force side by side and they both work well together. I sequence the drum parts on the MPC X while using the Force to record and midi sequence melodies played from all of my hardware synthesizers. It's a great standalone hardware setup. All I use a computer for now is to track out into Protools and mix. Are you sure the converters on the current MPC X SE are an improvement over the converters of the original MPC X? So, the new MPC X SE has Burr Brown converters? I'm gonna research that. BTW, I like the excerpts from "The Last Starfighter" that you included. It's one of my favorite sci-fi movies from the 80's and I kind of wish I had it on DVD.
