Question. I have same wall set up as you and love the shop with the insulation. I’m looking at sheathing the walls to protect the insulation as well as hand cabinets and tools etc. I see you use 3/4 plywood. Would osb be strong enough for the same purpose ?

I think I fell for some of these Steel Building traps. I have a project for a 20x50x14 building - I feel for the special deal, then I used the erector they recommended who has taken months to show up and when he finished the structural part (not very well from what I can tell), I think he is just going to walk away without completing the insulation, roof, and walls. Know anyone who can help?

"Building Department"...don't sign any agreements and put up no trespass signs... if you do... you "admit" their "authority" over your life...cognitive dissonance abounds these days.

I like your idea as it saves a lot of time over studs and dry wall. But if you weld or grind,all that wood can burn adds potential fuel to a fire. Drywall is a fire barrier.

I wish I found this video about 5 months ago. Every single point is spot on. I missed the first piece of advice and paid dearly for it. I wasn't in a hurry. I don't know what I was thinking, but I was talked into buying before I had even considered what it was I was purchasing. I would add one piece of advice, find a builder that is in your local area. If you have trouble, and you will, then you aren't dealing with someone 5 states away who really doesn't care anymore. I learned several lessons that I didn't need to learn if I had just followed these five pieces of advice.

Bought a 50x80 (120mph) from MBMI recently for 83k, they made me put an initial 25% deposit and another 25% when it went into production. It was just delivered yesterday.

Good tips! Considering this video is 8 years old, some variables have changed in regard to down payments. The volatility of steel prices has a direct affect on overall pricing of structures, when steel prices went up (a lot!) this last year, some customers paid a set amount for their deposit, locked there price in, and once production began the price of their structure went up immensely causing the company to either lose money on the deal or break even. When a 50% deposit is required it is not because anyone is trying to just get a quick sale (at least the honest sales reps) but it is because we want them to get their building at todays steel pricing. If a company orders steel today and a month later steel goes up 10%, they are getting the steel that was priced accordingly. If your dealing with a decent company the sales rep will not put you on the back burner once they get your deposit, they should be working with you throughout the entire process. Again this is an informative video with great tips but the economy has certainly changed since then.

Operator error, didn't have to happen, they guy is an idiot. These arch buildings are great. I built one by myself with my tractor and no issues at all.

I do miss 30$ for a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 inch tong and groove plywood.

No one can find good erectors workers anywhere.. Been putting up since 1986 all brands.

Love this video but unfortunately in 2022 it would be cost prohibitive to use plywood. I recently purchased one sheet of 3/4" B-C grade plywood it was $69.00 Do you recommend any alternatives? BTW I took the sheet of plywood back.

I’m a CFO in this industry People are probably regretting listening to this guy. We ask for a deposit to lock in a price. Steel prices double last year, so we increased our prices 47%. So someone in January that waited for July to put a deposit down paid 73,500 for a building that they would have paid 50,000 in January. Way to help people lose money guy on video.
