What terrible cuffs do these poor animals have on their necks? What idiot marks wildlife in such a ruthless way? With a bit of logical thinking you know what happens to the neck of such an animal: the feathers stick together, parasites and pathogens nest, the skin becomes inflamed and weeping, a big wound develops! Get those fucking cuffs off their neck!!!

why is there a number tag on them? Can we just leave them alone?

Those are placed on them by The United States Fish and Wildlife Service. A tag has numbers and/or letters visible to bird watchers all over that help increase our knowledge and understanding of birds and their habits and assists in their management and conservation. So it's a good thing.

Could we get an update about the condition of the mama swan who's limping? Found out below that she was being monitored for the right time to be treated (in order to not leave the cygnets without a mother). Three years since then on, I hope she's keeping well with her mate.

I've been concerned about the wellbeing of mama swan as well. I tried following up on the case with Wildlife Victoria back in November 2019, but haven't received a reply back from them. I've also been back to the lake a couple of times to see if I could find the swans, but have had no luck there either 😔 However, if I do so in future, I will definitely update the story here and also upload a new video ☺
