This happened to me at 2h 30m away from my city lol I looked at some youtube to see what I can do before freaking out. Got it "fixed" and today you are going to help me to replace it :)

My Transit Connect is part of this recall, but I HATE to use a dealer (stealer) for ANYthing because they break things. Twice they have split the plastic air box screw threads by using power tools on plastic parts. Whatever the Ford dealers do, I can count on them damaging something or worse. Overfilled the oil by a quart. Left inlet pipes disconnected. They have left a tool under the hood (then asked ME to drive back to the dealer so they could look for it!). I tried to get this recall done, once I was notified that parts were available. Make the appointment, then the night before, I received an automated message saying the appointment was cancelled because they did NOT have the parts. This looks simple enough for me to do the repair, thanks to your video.

Just happened to me two days ago with my 2013 Ford Fusion 😤. Replaced with Dorman 14057 Automatic Transmission Shift Cable Bushing. Took about 15 minutes to fix. Great video ! 👍🏼

My 2015 Escape broke down this morning on the way to work with this recalled bushing, and luckily it stayed in park but almost rolled backwards in to a busy roadway before it somehow got back in park. My Amazon vehicle info shows the Dorman will not fit/work for my 2015 Escape. My brother went to AutoZone and bought the Dorman 14041, but they don't fit either. Ordered the linked TB1 kit this morning from Amazon, which does show to fit/work. Thank you for all the very helpful videos, made getting to it very easy. Will update Monday after I try again, but for now stuck at home missing work and local Ford dealers don't care a bit about this safety issue and won't offer loaner or rental car while repairing.

Thanks for the update we were looking at the Ford Escapes. I am in the market for a new used car and many of the car fax show this recall, but how can the dealer sell these cars with this issue. Also we have been looking a Chevy Trax cars from 2017-2019. One car we saw was a 2019 and at 41,000 miles the car fax showed the radiator had to be replaced. Also not listed on the car fax is a recall for the front suspension control arm, lower ball joint, and the air bags restraint control module for these Chevy Trax cars.

Literally had this happen to me this morning while dropped my wife off at Pearson International Airport. Couldn't get the car out of Park! Wound up putting it in to Drive manually and taking it straight to the Dealer! :S

My 2019 Escape was repaired yesterday, dealer said parts came in. I was in for routine service and they changed it.

I had this issue a few weeks back, I completely forgot about the recall (to be fair, my 2015 fusion has had a million recalls) and brought it to my local shop. It happened again a week later, and I finally brought it into ford to get fixed. It's been going great but to be honest I feel like I have PTSD from getting stuck in reverse while mid-parallel park in downtown Chicago lol My heart sinks anytime I move my gear shift now

Hi! I don't know how or where else to ask you but is changing the blower motor resistor in a 2013 escape something you have done before? I've figured out that it's located under the driver's side but have no idea how to get at it. My ac only works on max. Hoping I could fix it myself before taking it in. Love your videos BTW. You've saved me so much money the last couple years!

Thank you for this, but when I run my ford escape VIN number, they claim this doesn't affect my vehicle on the 2.0L version _ this is very frustrating.... yes this popped in my ford escape 2 days ago.

I have a Ford 2013 Escape SEL. Back in August I experienced a break down due to this issue and took it to my mechanic. I then contacted FORD directly and found about the recall. Since they had no plans to start the recall until 4th quarter 2022, this is my main car and could not be without my vehicle that long. I was assured by the FORD rep In MI that I could have it fixed at my mechanic and it would be refunded as long as it was done before Oct 2022. Which I did... Now I have submitted the fix twice to Ford through my dealer and it has been denied each time. Any idea what I can do next?

i had a recall and the only time available to replace is the march 2023. now i need a new transmission. (7710.00) Did the faulty bushing cause this?

So is there any downside to going to a garage other than Ford to have this repaired, other than having to pay for it? You showed the part that's needed, so can other garages obtain this part? Last week my SUV broke down due to the recall issue I tried to have fixed in May when the letters first arrived here. It's now at the shop with no ETA on when I'm getting it back. There is no loaner and no compensation for the $$$ I'm paying to get to and from work. At this stage it seems like a better option to go have it towed to a generic garage and get them to fix it so I can actually use my vehicle.

At my Ford dealership, service replaced the shifter cable bushing per recall. When they restarted my Ford 2015 escape they got a Transmission fault warning P2681 "bypass valve fault". Could replacing the bushing cause the fault? They say they have no idea what caused the fault and want $650 to diagnose the problem. I need advice! Thanks

I went to replace Shift Cable Bushing on my Ford C-Max Hybrid 2016 in Florida and they replaced it ( I think) in less than 10 minutes and now I have a the check light ON a couple days later after driving it. What happened?

Thanks for this... unfortunately, I had this issue and my shifter cable disconnected and left me stuck in reverse. AAMCO charged me $175 to fix. Feeling a little ripped off but I but I believe I can get reimbursed when the recall becomes available in Q4

I took my 2016 Ford Escape Oct 13th for an oil change and Ford replaced the transmission shifter cable bushing that day. A week later my my Escape while driving lost power and wouldn’t go into 2nd gear. A transmission warning came on the instrument cluster. I got my car home and a mobile mechanic came to look at it and the transmission warning was gone and it drove fine when we tested it but now I’m scared to drive it. Could this be related to the re-call part being done incorrectly?

I came here for tires. If I got a letter, I must have assumed it was another extended warranty pitch.

Can a worn out, missing or bad bushing effect transmission. I had to spend 4,500 dollars for a new transmission in May . My car would shift in proper gear, frayed acceleration, rolling . All the above. Then a month later I get a recall letter from ford. I need some clarification.

My 2014 Escape 1.6 drove fine all day yesterday until it suddenly stopped shifting. I got on the highway and the engine revved so I took the exit. I had a red light at the bottom, and when the light turned green, I stepped on the gas and it wouldn't go. It was like it was in Neutral. I turned it off, waited a few minutes, restarted the car, drove fine until the next red light. Same thing. Pulled into a parking lot and as I made the turn the car shuddered and wouldn't go again. Turned it off. Waited, restarted, drove fine, etc... Got it towed, tow driver has NO trouble with it going to into gear enough to back it off the truck and into a park spot. I get in, turn it on, goes into reverse, but won't go into park. The shift lever is moving fine, the trans just won't go in to gear. I shut it off. I figure I should set the parking brake. Turning it back on, and now it won't go into gear at all. Again, shift lever moves fine. Also, while waiting for my tow with the engine running so I could stay warm, every now and then in idle, the engine would make that same shudder, but less so, just idling in park. Probably once every 10 mins +/-. At that point, I would shut it off until I got cold again. Also, before I called the two, after I parked it, I put the lever down through all the gears and I could feel it go into R and D, but not into S and the S didn't turn red. I have NO money lights and NO messages in the dash. I HOPE it's the cable bushing issue, but the shuddering and shifting fine into drive once restarted (when this first occured) makes me feel like it's not. Have you ever had a repair with these symptoms?

This happened to my car last September. We’ve got it looked at twice and they said to replace the entire transition is $6000. We just got a new used car and the escape is not just sitting there and still making payments on it. Crap! Ford better get this soulution quick.
