So I always rode an 8 inch Powell board. Once I got the Andy, I really wanted to get the 8.75 Mini Logo trucks, but all the shop had was the 9 inch Ace's. The Ace's are very squirrelly, and that is coming from someone who rides loose trucks. I think the mini logos are better. They're lower, lighter, and turn very well.

Rad setup, not to mention one of the best bands of all time playing throughout. I love setting up boards. I can't think of another thing we put so much thought into just to destroy it and still love it when it is beat up as much as we did when it was fresh. I feel there is more to be said about that, not sure what it is. Stay Rad Sir.

Not to get too cerebral, but the skateboard used to be a living maple tree. There is a real and organic connecting between rider and board. Arguably, you could apply Swiss Philosopher, Martin Buber's principle of "I-Thou" vs. "I-It"

Thank you very much! I only started at the age of 44 and am still a beginner, but I'm leaning towards 58mm wheels for this board (not bought yet) after having had very good experiences with 56mm on my 8.25". So I was looking for suitable trucks for 58mm wheels. I'll take a closer look at your recommendation with the Independent 149S.

@skating4satori6722 ай бұрын
Great question! Some Independent Trucks come with 6 holes so that you can adjust the wheelbase. Some boards come with pre-drilled holes, while others you may need to drill on your own to customize.

Might grab this on sale to shred the hell out of it. Wondering if I should put my 169: on it or get 215/“s never skated a deck over. 10x30

Yea I have 169s on all my deck I got 215s and there fine the reason I went 215 is for later so in case I want a 10.5 or something. The 215 actually aren’t bad they don’t stick out as much as you think and it feels good. I am loving this missle 2 concave this is my 6th deck in two months these reissue are so fun! Last one until summer though. Gonna build a Frankie bulldog from power this summer. My first Santa cruise and I am really loving it so far

I think 8Baller rides 159s on his board, but the 55s worked out really well. The wheels & axle nuts are still tucked in under the board and it rides just like any other board w/ a 15" wheelbase.

As someone who has been through multiple surgeries from skating, I’ve stopped trying to “push” myself (no pun intended). Instead, when I DO skate, I’m focusing on carving and having fun. If I can pull off a few slash grinds I’m fine with that.

Do you prefer this board over the 9" version? Why or why not?
@skating4satori6724 ай бұрын
I've ridden both sizes extensively and don't really have a preference over the other. They're both good boards. Depending on what I'm riding, I like the 9" version for bigger bowls because of the 33" length and 15" wheelbase. The 8.75" is a little more maneuverable on the smaller stuff due to the shorter length and 14.75" wheelbase. I've been riding a smaller board recently because my son didn't want to ride the Powell Heron Egg board 8.7" x 32" w/ 14.5" wheelbase and our parent skate crew has been riding mini ramp/mini bowl lately.

Narrowest in AA's lineup is his most recent egg model at 8.4" x 32.5" 14.25"wb. The boards are designed to reflect his evolution as a skateboarder and competition he is aiming for. Don't think it will be a narrower in the future. Seems like everyone is riding a wider deck these days.

I am thinking of getting back at it at the age over 40. I was wondering if you have any trouble at the park with the younger ones?
@skating4satori6726 ай бұрын
There have been a few minor incidents, but overall no trouble or issues with people in general at the skatepark. We also don't meddle in other people's matters, but make ourselves available if anyone at the park needs help. They also know that we are part of a group of parents that volunteer our time to keep the park clean or perform maintenance on the pool coping. Sometimes being old at the skatepark works in your favor. Even at 42, when I first started skating the park, I noticed that people would go skate somewhere else at the park. At first I was confounded, but then realized that no one wants to hang out with someone their parent, or possibly grand parent's age.
