Wow! I'd never heard this singer before! She's awesome! It is SO difficult to find a soprano who can do justice to this role besides Callas! But, I think now I've may have found one!! Hope there are more recordings of her in this role!

Haha, the recording quality is better than from "live" 2009 but nevertheless I prefer the other version!

Mz. Nesi has one of the most distinctive and unique voices out there. So much flair and stamina, this is an exemplary performance of the fiendishly difficult Caffarelli bravura. In my modest and subjective opinion, it is sung appropriately more stylish than how Fagioli does it. I simply cannot wait for Nesi/Caffarelli Arminio in Porpora's Germanico.

I have just seen her as Juno-Ino in Semele in Opera Nice. Apart from her brilliant singing, her acting is marvellous. She was like a mixture of Hillary Clinton and Lady Gaga in the first role, and something like Pippa Middleton in the second! I just loved her. She will have a great future and I will always be looking out for her.

I had the luck seeing her twice live in Amsterdam, first in Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans with The Venice Baroque Orchestra / Andrea Marcon. Superb. And then 3 years later in Vivaldi's Farnaci with I Barocchisti / Diego Fasolis. Superb. One of my favourite cds is her Salve Regina cd she recorded with Alan Curtis: www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=8008309 What a beautiful and warm voice.

I saw Mary-Ellen Nesi in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) Viae Stellae program, Teatro Principal 2011 Academia Bizantina performed "Semiramide reconosciouta", totally impressed by her, powerful and amazing, sensitive and lovely role plenty of nuances. She got the complicity of the audience. Some moments were an ecstasy. I felt like a king in Opera. Carlos Pardo
