Brilliant video, extremely helpful. I can tell Joseph (who is credited with editing) took inspiration from 3blue1brown. Really beautiful display of the maths and the physics!

Nice climb. Did you see 3737's climb? (search 'The climb 3737'). We used surgical tubing for hook return.

Hi, great vid. I do however have a question. How would i figure out the moment and power needed for my dc motor that powers the fly wheel?

Hey guys how would this change for a two wheel system ?
@LynbrookRobotics
@LynbrookRobotics 2 жыл бұрын
So for a two wheel shooter, a few things change. 1] The ball is not "rolling" on the wheel. If both wheels are rotating at equal speed, the ball does not spin at all. So, instead of the ball's exit velocity being half the surface speed of the wheel, the exit velocity is equal to the surface speed of the wheel up until the point that it begins slipping. At 4:07, Sam mentions that 2*V_b = V_f. In the case of a two wheel shooter, replace this with V_b = V_f, and then carry out the same process. 2] Since you have more wheels, you need to calculate the total inertia of the entire wheel system. If you have two stages of wheels, different wheels may have different moments of inertia. If there is a gear or belt reduction between them, each wheel may roll at a different speed, so each may contribute a different amount to the inertia of the ball. Let us know if you have any further questions! Best, Sid

PortPlastics is a local supplier in San Jose, CA. They sell polycarb 4'x8' sheets uncut (only) for local pickup.

Hi . Very nice robot . I noticed that the hooks are returning to their original position. Did you make them out of rubber? or what method did you use

Really great video! one question though, do you recommend on Surgical tubing for counter balancing on your robot? From our experience it changes its force drastically over time and is much less reliable than springs.

I noticed the mechanism for winding up your catapult (very cool), but how do you change the release point of the catapult to vary your shots?
@mileschan5147
@mileschan5147 6 жыл бұрын
The shooter spring setup was chosen such that two shot solutions (energy and angle) corresponding to shooting ranges centered in front of the low goal and roughly 16 feet out were possible. Then the problem becomes simply arresting the arm motion for the desired ball release. 0:17 shows the hooks, which were used to stop the motion of pegs dragged along with the shooter arm (also visible).
