The process has been great together with the community! I am delighted to be part of it. Happy to see our community growing. Keep up the great work Ryan. 👊

Again with the fast turnaround on making the video. 😂 Have you considered making any cad models for these puzzles to be able to 3d print them? I personally don’t have a 3d printer or work with cad, and I assume it’s a bit time consuming. But I know there’s probably quite a few people who would love to be able to 3d print the things you make for their own games

The process of making these puzzle props has been even more fun, because I’m doing them all on my YT live stream every single day. If you’re interested in seeing the live progress, feel free to stop over sometime!

Duck of Doom! 🦆 (that's all I'm saying) (although I also love the song "Fear of the Duck!" (IYKYK 🦆)) 😉

Saw your videos on character prologues and backstory ideas maybe a year ago? Now its my turn to DM for the group and hunted your channel down to find these again. So far people love it but I think it would be awesome to see how you prep for these since it feels quite different from preparing for a normal session. Can definitely see myself doing even more 1:1 sessions in downtime etc. for the future of this campaign as well

But when you are the player and you have been rolling horrible all session, then it's only one hit and you roll a 2 to hit, then you get everyone yelling at you for not even being able to hit the boss for the entire fight, and your PC then takes the next session contemplating life..... Might be speaking from personal experience hahahahaha

Sounds like a roleplay opportunity! But yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes the dice are cruel.

@@ryanimeldm Oh yeah it really was an RP scenario then and took it into the next session for RP as well. Was a great time overall looking back now but still was rough

Aw, yeah I know that feeling. Though sometimes I’ll even mail out puzzle props to players in remote games too. Why not?

I gave my players a lock and a lockpick for opening a lock. In a scifi setting they had to be very careful while disarming a bomb. I used Mikado sticks. They had like three tries.

I just list my ideas and roll or pick ones more relevant in the moment if there's no one to talk to during prep. Are you talking about "dumb" questions that feels like not worth anyone else's time?

Have you ever handed your players a physical item of some sort during your games? What did everyone think?
@Shroomiest16 күн бұрын
I've been working on learning how to DM and plan on testing out my skills on my partner to try and get more comfortable, but my long term goal is to create physical props like this to give players more immersion. It's always what I crave when I play, and I usually find ways to do it myself so I don't burden my dm. I've been really inspired by the content you make. I write down tips and ideas almost every time I watch a video of yours! These props have got to be my favorites so far

I just gave my players a resin printed/painted circle that was the seal on Van Richten's tower in Curse of Strahd, they loved it but the painted tower was the star of the show.
@jokerofspades-xt3bs8 күн бұрын
One of the players had an item that let them deny a single die roll from me (the dm) so to make sure the point got across (and so I wouldn't accidentally ignore it) I gave him a nerf gun with a single foam dart loaded in it

An idea I had when reading through my starter campaign book, is what if when an enemy is low on HP, it noticeably begins taking more desperate actions, and switches from average damage to damage rolls? Demonstrating that maybe they’re feeling less steady, but have the potential to be more dangerous?
@amianderson886617 күн бұрын
Good luck❤

Some people don't realize how difficult it can be at times to make puzzles such as this, let alone make their props by hand as well... Only the best of luck to you from a fellow dm 🤝
