I'm not an environmental nut but the absolute gall these manufacturers have to create what I consider "disposable" TVs at "Buy it for Life" prices. CRTs literally lasted for decades, they lived so long they were virtually antiques by the time they stopped working, if ever, and they did break - they were repairable! These TVs are all ending up in the dump in 5-10 years, and they're not even cheap. THEY'RE EXPENSIVE. Furthermore they are *riddled* with quality control issues. Weird lighting problems, dimming problems, durability issues, cracking, colour problems. They're plastic junk. They're little more than large, flat lightbulbs. I hate everything about these televisions except their slimness

I wonder if there's a version that could leverage a PC case fan for a much quieter and smaller build for apartments and the like. Maybe using one of those oval replacement filters for the Dyson purifiers... I've got a couple Noctua 5V PWM fans hooked up to a microcontroller for speed control. Modifying them to be air purifiers could be interesting 😁

Integrating an iPad and making a simple device so freaking complicated is just dumb. Whatever, some people need their toast cloud based I guess. LOL

Thank you for making this video. When I first got my LG CX I thought I was losing my mind. I’m very sensitive to backlight flicker hence my move to OLED in the first place however I was not aware of VRR flicker at the time. It’s unfortunate but for me keeping it disabled is my best option.

These duct taped air purifiers predate Corsi & Rosenthal's publications, and had been used by people with limited budgets for many years pre-2020.

What about TVs? I am about to buy a LG C3... Does this model have VRR flicker? I checked the review on the site but it doesn't state anything about VRR flicker.

Question, i have the Samsung 65 inch Q7FN from 2018. It works amazing even with edge Light. Still going strong after 6 years. Are there big differences in quality between like say my model and like q60?

Rocking my old UE50H5070 since 2014 now. No problems whatsoever not even a hiccup. This thing has been running flawlessly for 10 years now, imagine that! But now that GTA 6 is just around the corner, I'm going to need a 4K TV. So thanks for all the hard work and dedication, Rtings!

My 15 year old Samsung TV got zapped by a defective external device via an HDMI connection. Time for a replacement, so just as before, I added a fan to my new Amazon Fire TV 4K. The TV is attached to a Universal TV Stand, and the height of top of the stand is the exact same height as the cooling slots on the back of the TV. So the fan sits nicely half on the stand, and half on the TV vents. Despite being a slow and quiet fan, it keeps the TV nice and cool.

This is the type of reviews I have been looking for. I still have fully functional tvs from the 90s and early 2000s but my newer tvs are broken. I like to know how good an expensive tv can look after paying someone to calibrate it but I will never do that. I just want to know what lasts the longest. What is unfortunate is I see zero marketing in relation to longevity on any tv by any manufacturer be it a tv, a stereo component, a computer etc. All the while virtue signaling to "save the environment".

6:35 thats because you got it in a hot box of a warehouse for a stress test, less than a foot from other tvs producing just as much heat. I love you rtings but the scenario's gotta be more realistic for creditworthiness. I can see the design is a total flaw and failure and it makes no sense to continue production on such flawed tvs, but i think they often assume best case living scenarios where a home is under air conditioning 24/7 or that buyers are most likely in parts of the world where temperatures are relatively cold most year round, and that the tv's not mounted next to their fireplace, yknow.

The fan is a major variable. So many on the market at different price points, air movement and noise. KZfaqr Healthy Home Guide built one with a 160 buck fan. Supposedly extremely quiet and efficient. But it's a 160 buck fan. Yours may have the exact same results or better than his. But his has 10 speeds and a wireless remote. You could test the homemade design with an infinite number of fans, but that's not really the point of your company. Thanks for showing us the "Yeah, but........" with the homemade design, but the homemade design is it's own rabbit hole.

Get a five gallon bucket and drill a bunch of holes all around the lower few inches. Line the inside with a screen. Fill the five gallon bucket with activated charcoal granules. Find a fan that can be fitted onto the lid, blowing inward. It will not only absorb 2.5 micron particles like a hepa, but it will *_also_* capture odors, VOCs, smoke, and just about everything except oxygen.

Two issues: 1) No Dualit reviews 2) No Alessi Plissè reviews. 3), but actually the main one: nothing said re build quality (and, indirectly, estimated duration and reliability)... you know, all those things you tell us about when it comes to, e.g., computer mice.

Many screens ship with those ai chips integrated. I wonder why they don't have an option to use frame interpolation to smooth out the lack of frames and make sure all frames sync.

Does RTINGS do any testing like this with also flipping TV's off, cool down, then back on? It is one thing to leave a TV on all the time, but 99.9999% of users will be thermal-cycling these at least once, if not more times, per day. Thermal cycling even on solid state electronics degrades them. Curious if any brands can handle this better than others or it is not important.

I have a Philips 436M6VBP 43" monitor that developed those exact same warped blue lights at the bottom of the screen shown at 0:44 after 4 years of normal use. I don't have kids or pets. The monitor was treated perfectly and never moved from the spot I set it when I bought it. Now I finally find out what the name of the issue is after Googling for hours.

Sony Bravia XR-77A80L United States bought and delivered brand new from BB, only 2+ months in home - No click heard, turned off with Remote and left in Standby, left Off in Standby for 8+ hours - and No Click occurred during this 8+ hours and so apparantly No Auto Panel Calibration (Short compensation Cycle) executed on my 77A80L. Help? Will upgrading to FW update v6.7546 Solve this issue and not break anything else? I heard that a FW upgrade can break other items on the tv such as your eARC functionality or TV turning off and on, etc? (by the way my current FW is: Sony Bravia XR-77A80L OLED TV Software Version: PKG6.7532.0865NAA)

I was always careful with my 2019 Samsung and rarely used it at full brightness. 4 years later the LEDs started turning purple. In 2019 I spent what I thought was a lot of money at the time. It was not a cheaper model. I had expected it to last nearly a decade with how careful I was. I went to order new LEDs to repair it and found that the 4 light strips required totaled over $400 after shipping. Unreasonable. When I replaced it I figured that if a TV wont last 5 years anyway I might as well buy an OLED.

to me this kind of explains why Sony is going so hard on Mini LED, I think think this something they would rather not deal with.
